Fish...Is there any reason to back Iowa today?

    I will answer this.

Fish will say no. I swear this is his schtick. He rarely plays on Iowa. I think he wins either way by doing that. If they win---his team won. If he makes them a play and they lose---well, then it is a double whammy night.

I guess we all do this with our favorite teams, but I just don't recall Fish making Iowa one of his plays.

Am I wrong on this one?

Fish hasn't played Iowa much this season, that's for sure. (At least he hasn't post Iowa as a play on this board).

That said, very early he's been saying you should have pounded Mizzou as a pick-/-1. He's right too (IMO). This Iowa team is not very good and has had significant internal issues since the end of the season. My concern for Iowa tonight is conditioning. They have played very poorly all season in the 4Q against Big Ten teams that don't play particularly fast. This Mizzou team should exhaust the Iowa D pretty early and have its way.

    Don't play Iowa. Not today.

Martin, yes you are completely wrong...........I've wagered tons both ON and AGAINST Iowa over the past 30 years.............winning big and losing big doing both.

I've stated for two weeks now(and hoping others would to so they could beat the linemove) that I went in big with MISSOURI ML(-105) and at -1 at various outlets.

    1. Iowa's leading RUSHER and RECIEVER are suspended for this game.......the latter having a big effect as DKJ has led Iowa in recieving 4 straight years and was also their main return man.

    2. Many other players have rumored to have tested positive through Iowas internal drug testing policy.

    3. Iowa has seen other non-suspended players already declare they are transferring after this season and a few others are rumored to follow.

    4. Considering the issues surrounding this program at the current time, coupled with the fact that Iowa severely underchieved this season, makes me believe that they will have a very hard time focusing on this game in terms of preparation.

    Again, this is all set-up.

You make the case for Iowa not having a chance, and if they win-----you win.

I don't believe for a second that you bet on Missouri. And, while you may have been betting Iowa for "30 years", can you give me 3 posts where you bet on Iowa in the last 3 years?

    Just askin'.

The thing about injuries to rb's and wr's at big schools is usually there young studs sitting bench that are good and you do not lose much.

Rarely do injuries at these positions effect outcome of game at big time schools.

I played Mizu only on Fishhead's recomendation.

    In reality scared of bet

I could see this going two ways...
    1. Iowa just mails it in and gets smoked by Mizzou...
    2. Iowa has an "us against the world" mentality and comes out and smokes Mizzou.

A few years back Fishhead had as his biggest play of the year Iowa/Minnesota under 55.5. Iowa won the game 56-0.

Actually Pav. I think he had Minnesota in that game. Not the over/under.

I am almost 99% sure he had Minnesota +6 in that game, and he got waffled 55-0.

Fish has been very open about his dislike for Iowa in this game going back to the very day DJK was suspended. He is not playing Iowa in this spot.

Lost THOUSANDS of games and THOUSANDS of dollars on games over the years.......

THOSANDS upon THOUSANDS......and many times at the expense of backing Iowa.

Two of my largest BOWL WAGERS ever resulted in two huge losers backing the IOWA side..........both times witnessing the beatdown in person live at the game.

    1982 ROSE BOWL........IOWA -3

    Result---Washington 28 IOWA 0

    2002 ORANGE BOWL........IOWA +3

    Result----USC 38 IOWA 17

It has to be demoralizing have players quit and get kicked of the team. Not to mention Iowa lost three in a row heading into this game and now they are without a couple of their best players. Looks like a no brainer to me.

Iowa is 6-2 SU & 7-1 ATS as bowl dogs. They are also 8-1 ATS off 3 straight SU losses

This is a hard one to call. Mizzou looks too obvious

the difference this yr is mizzous defense they r a good unit, need evidence they beat oklahoma. this is the biggest reason i think they have a chance to win this game. i would not take iowa lightly though they tend to show up in these contests. public is likely leaning toward mizzou rite now at 82%, this ones a tough call it warrants a closer look into the matchup.

As many believe, think Missouri will slice up the Iowa linebackers with quick slants and short passes out of the backfield.........a problem that has plagued this Iowa defense all year because of their not fleet of foot linebackers.

Couple this with the suspension to DKJ, the drama surrounding this team at the present time with suspensions, drug use, transfers and a demoralizing 7-5 team taking on a team that is 10-2 and playing for a top ten finish and I believe this is a recipe for a MISSOURI cover in this game.

Iowa has a tough time vs spread teams due to their lack of speed on defense and the inability of the linebackers to cover slot receivers (ex. Indiana, N'western). This all points to Missouri but this line is puzzling to me.

Northwestern only scored 21 points on Iowa. And Indiana scored 13.

Iowa's problems are also on offense. They couldn't move the ball on Indiana or Northwestern.

I just don't think they are all that good.

Iowa is one of those teams that tend to be overrated based on the previous year's record. If they manage 9 wins and have a few returning starters-----everyone thinks they are going to repeat the success. They don't get the depth of other big time programs.

I'm a Big Ten man....watched Iowa and Illinois closely all year! Missouri and Baylor are 2 of my 3 strongest plays in the bowl season! Iowa needed a wide open dropped pass in the end zone to beat lowly Indiana...not to mentions suspensions, etc. Baylor hasn't been to bowl since Jimmy Carter it seems....they'll be SKY HIGH! I'll take Robert Griffith vs. a freshman QB in a pick'em any day of the week!! CASH IT!!
