I guess getting your name mentioned for a vacant coaching job can get one a big raise (Florida). Worked for Bobby Petrino as he has just agreed to a new seven year contract extension that raises his yearly salary from $2.7 to $3.56 million. The new deal also includes incentives such as $300,000 for winning the national title. $150,000 for playing in the title game and $125,000 for appearing in a non-title BCS bowl.
Arkansas finished 10-2 this season and is headed to the Sugar Bowl in Petrino's third year with the program.
By the way, Petrino was NEVER contacted by Florida.
Good for him. I think he is a very good coach, but I would not put him up at the elite level of coaches just yet. I would say he is a top 10 coach and is probably the best coach Arkansas' program could have landed.
