    NC State VS Georgia Tech

4th year Coach Tom O’Brien has folks fired up in Raleigh. The Pack’s 3-0 start is the best since 2002. QB Russell Wilson has thrown 8 touchdowns and 131 consecutive passes without a single pick going back to last year. The offense has scored at least 28 in all three contests. Defensive Coordinator Mike Archer’s unit is much improved. He brought in former GT Defensive Coordinator Jon Tenuta to run the Linebackers and has seen instant payoff. Audie Cole and Terrell Manning have been disruptive forces from the LB position. Georgia Tech will pose a difficult test for the Pack D. Paul Johnson’s Triple Option offense is tough to prepare against so the 2 additional days of prep time will help. The Pack will have to change their entire defensive mindset. Instead of blitzing and attacking, they will need to be patient, read the play and keep their assignment. Each player will be responsible for a Yellow Jacket. Josh Nesbitt runs Georgia Tech’s offense. He will look to spread the defense early with sweeps wide to both sides. Nesbitt has 267 yards rushing and 200 passing. He has thrown for a TD in all 3 GT games this season. Anthony Allen and Orwin Smith lead the Tech running attack which averages an impressive 6.1 yards per carry. Tech’s defense played its best game of the year last week at Chapel Hill in a 30-24 ACC victory. The Jackets have won 6 straight home ACC contests and their last 8 ACC games overall not including their Championship victory last season. This game should be an exciting contest with some big plays. Tech wins its 8th straight ACC game in a close one, 27-23.

Agreed, NC State should be able to limit GTechs rushing attack. GT is a one-dimensional offense and if NC can take that away they should cover easily.

Agree with your assessment. I took the +8.5 because not only is Wilson the real deal, but State has the athletes in the front 7 to slow down the Jackets running attack. Discipline will be very key. Plus, these teams have played many close contests in the last ten years.

Does anyone like GT to cover the spread in this one? Could the Pack get beat bad in Atlanta?

    Thanks for your thoughts
