Big Ten expected to announce divisional alignments tomorrow

Expecting Michigan - Ohio State to be split with our Rivalry with Sparty to take it's place.

Iowa - Wisconsin will be split, don't know if they will have a crossover nor who will stay with Minnesota.

Ohio State / Penn State / Nebraska / Michigan will be split 2x2.

Illinois - Northwestern is "safe" don't know if that means they will be in the same division, or if it's a crossover game.

Everything else is up in the air.

Jim Delaney has proven to be the dumbest conference leader in all of sports.

The Big 10 has one game that rivals the SEC in national attention---Michigan and Ohio State----and he is moving that to a mid-season game.

Texas punked Delaney, and now this. Awesome.

Texas has absolutely nothingto do with this. Please do not tell me that you honestly thought that Texas was even considering the Big 10, and vice versa. You read too many gossip columns.

Where the Big 10 will screw itself is by going to 9 conference games. The Big 10 survives on scheduling cupcake non-con schedules. Last year, both Minnesota and Michigan State needed soft non-con schedules to win 6 games and get bowl bids. The Big 10 has 8 bowl tie-ins. By scheduling the extra conference game, there is a good chance that at least one less Big 10 team will not go to a bowl game. Had they done this last season, two may not have gone. That cost those teams, and the Conference money. This was a stupid idea to try and appease all of the morons who think that every Big 10 game is some type of rivalry game.

Everyone is talking about the Ohio State-Michigan game, which is absolutely meaningless now except to people in Ohio and MIchigan, and has been for several years. It is stupid to put these two teams in different conferences just to have the possiblity of these two playing in a Championship Game. The way Michigan is going, they will not be playing in a Championship game for years. The Big 10 did one thing right, and now is immediately back to screwing things up again.

Texas was never going to move---But Delaney thought they would. Gene Smith was talking to Doss, and Delaney leaked it. Oh well, his fault.

Oh and by the way. Gene Smith just tweeted "News to me" when asked if the Big 10 had an announcement pending.

Considering Michigan will prob suck for a while, it would be smart for the committee to keep OSU in the same division and keep the annual rivalry. They wouldnt meet in the championship often enough.

dumb move.....swap out wisconsin and michigan and it's fine with east/west. no idea why they'd ruin that game. are they that adamant about not having psu, osu and mich in the same division?

I can't grasp why they don't divide the teams however the hell they want to - there seemed to be this odd compulsion to have to have it east/west divided, which I can't grasp why they would need to do that.

The east/west divide is an archaic division to cut down on travel. but the the Big not Ten, are all relatively close and the the team rake money in hand over fist so who cares about travel -

This is a gift for Iowa and Nebraska. The Big 10+2 will have one game between two non-divisional conference rivals which will be played every year. Ohio State Draws Michigan. Penn State Draws Michigan State. Wisconsin draws Minnesota. Illinois draws Northwestern. That leaves Purdue or Indiana to face Iowa or Nebraska every year. This is subject to change. Joe Pa and Tom Osborne are old friends, so there may be a change there.

We got a pretty good draw. Two strongest programs in the conference are on the other side. Won't be too difficult to get back to where we need to be. People make a big deal out of the OSU - Michigan split up but honestly, it's just another game since they have clearly separated themselves.

Michigan State made out like bandits. OSU + PSU dropped twice every 4 years, on a side with Michigan and Nebraska (2 powers who are vulnerable) plus a protected crossover game with the worst team in the conference. Wisconsin got the worst draw. Trades Nebraska and Iowa with OSU and PSU. Minnesota is maintained, but it's a crossover. Surprised that the Big Ten didn't divide MN, IA, NE, and WI up 2 by 2. Ditto with PU, IN, IL, and NU.
