    rjt's Week 3 NCAA Plays (9-2, +10.6)

    YTD: 9-2, +10.6
    Sides: 6-2, +7.6
    Totals: 3-0, +3.00

4* Alabama -3: The way I see this game, if Bama can do an adequate job containing Arkansas’ dynamic McFadden/Jones duo, they win this game by double digits. With WR Marcus Monk unlikely to return for the Razorbacks, this will further allow Saban to focus on stopping Arkansas’ one-dimensional offense, as Casey Dick has few weapons in the passing game.

Bama RB Terry Grant’s impressive performance thus far should also be a factor in this game, as it will force Arkansas to focus more on the Tide’s running attack, which was expected to be one of the team’s most glaring weaknesses heading into this season. This should allow John Parker Wilson many opportunities to utilize DJ Hall and Keith Brown, two of the better wideouts in the SEC, against Arkansas’ young and inexperienced corners.

Bama was impressive on the road last week against Vandy, and returning home to Tuscaloosa in Saban’s first conference game as coach, the home field advantage can’t be underestimated in what will undoubtedly be an electric atmosphere.

Will add more plays throughout the week.

    RJT,

Hey, you got me lookin into this UNC game real hard and I'm starting to like the play a lot... Was just curious to hear what your thoughts are and why you the like the Tar Heels? Is it strictly the home field advantage in a conference game or do you think the Heels have the Upper Hand in several areas of the game? Let me know man!

More than anything else, it's a play against UVA and Al Groh. UVA's passing game has struggled against Duke and Wyoming, teams that are inferior to UNC. UVA's the more talented team, but throughout Groh's tenure, he's been able to get the most out of that talent, something that can't be said about Butch Davis. UNC's passing game has been relatively effective, and with 2 solid WR's in Tate and Nicks, I think they can do some damage against UVA's secondary. As you mentioned, the homefield advantage is also a key factor in Butch Davis' first home game as the coach, and only giving a small number, I'll take the homefield advantage and the significant coaching edge.

    Good luck.

I was liking the Cornhuskers myself, but I think I can snag an extra 1/2-1 point on gameday.

I think Neb will close +7 or +7.5 Danno. I feel certain the wiseguys and premier services will both have strong opinions on the Cornhuskers.

All over Alabama again this week. I had this game circled prior to the season starting. I hammered it earlier tonight. Nebraska USC who the hell knows I'll probably stay away from that one.

I like Nebraska too....unsure about ALA..at first I liked them but now have the slightest lean toward ARK. In any event, I am not going to play that game. Good luck....

This game feels a lot like USC-Arkansas last year or was it 2 years ago????. I don't have historic line data on that contest but I think USC finished as an 8 point favorite on the road at Arkansas and opened in double digits. USC just mauled them. I see this as the same type of scenario. This game, in my opinion, will be bet down even more. I don't think we'll see USC in double digits again.

    ebone,

with all due respect, a "home" game in Little Rock with Casey Dick at QB isn't quite the same as a night game at Lincoln with Sam Keller at the helm...

    pags,

Agreed. I'd never fight the assertion that Casey Dick is as good as Sam Keller.

I guess my point was that this game has the same "feel" to it. USC as a moderate road favorite; the home dog that is a bit "sexy" and the line being bet down as a result of that sexiness.

In my post above, I didn't mean to assert that USC would maul Nebraska. I'm not betting the game so I have no opinion either way. Simply stating that the way this game is being bet feels like "deja vu" to me.

    Hope that clarifies.

    Haha.

E, I get your point, I think this will close around 7.5 or 8 as well. I never really got that movement in the game last year. Before the season, I thought Ark had a great chance to give them a game, but then McFadden had a car wreck or something and was hobbling around ... who the hell is Arkansas going to beat when McFadden is barely walking? Sure not SC, or for that matter, anyone in the top 25.

Pete Carroll has had two weeks to prepare for this game.

If Nebraska wins I'll give you guys a lot of credit. I just don't see it, two different class of teams.

    We'll see.

    Love Bama BTW

    ebone,

it does a bit, but seems like a very broad generalization to me...no Steve Smith or Duane Jarrett either which will make a huge difference...

also a difference was that much of the public was on Arkansas in that game...I believe the line opened 11 and closed 8.5, whereas most of the public appears to be on USC in this game...
