Kansas looks like big play in Week 4 Again

When I break this game down, I can't see that KU will not win by at least 24 to 30 points. After being at both games so far this year, I can tell that this KU squad is for real. From the players to the coaches to the fans, there is a different feeling in Lawrence about KU football. A lot of big teams across the country are struggling with smaller schools but this team has been focused for 2 consecutive games and will continue to be for week 3 against Toledo. Even though it was a close game last year, a lot has happened to both teams. Toledo has lost several key players due to various activities (point shaving). KU has done nothing but add talented players at key positions, including the QB spot. KU beat Central Michigan 52-7 and looked flawless. Last week they looked the same as they won 62-0 against SE Louisiana. The key here is that Toledo gave up over 450 yards to Central Michigan and ended up losing by 3 td's. Yes, it was close thru the 3rd qtr, but Central Michigan pulled away late. Toledo did put up a lot of yards as well (400+) but that was against a Central Michigan team who also gave up 538 against KU. My prediction is that KU's defense will shutdown Toledo and the offense will roll with another 40+ point outing. Take KU -22 (45-10)

i can't believe the line is going down on this one. This is definitely my only game i will be playing. i hate betting a lot of my bankroll on one game, but i have never felt so good about a game.

I see what you are seeing here. It seems that these games never hit though. Beat a team by 45, they beat a team by 20, you should beat them by more than 20. I would play it but not more than any other bet. Be cautious is all I say. 30+ years of seeing games like that, and know from experience.

you are absolutely correct pokernut. i think your advice is right on. i'm sure i'll change my mind as the week goes on. i usually only pick a few KU games a year to bet on and it isn't always on the jayhawks side. when i break this game down, i just have a feeling it will be very lopsided.

Purdue averaged 7.2 yds/carry against that defense on 32 carries. I actually thought Purdue might have some trouble against them in the Glass Bowl but Toledo was outmatched in every aspect of that game. If it weren't for a fumblin' bumblin' 60 yard TD run along with their garbage TD with a minute or two left the 52-24 final would have looked even worse.

This game looks scary. I have not seen KU play. I have no idea how good they are. I just can't see laying 21.5 with the Jayhawks. That looks incredibly scary to me. I would be inclined to take the points and my chances with Toledo.

Keep us up to date Gambler, would love to know when you do have a "good feel" for the JAYHAWK program.
Glad you "feel good" about this one Gambler, cause I saw it on the board today & my eyes lit up......just like the way TOLEDO is going to get lit up as KU lights up the scoreboard this Saturday @Hm. I got 2 Units to say that KU-21 is good to go. Also, they don't have anyone to worry about for two weeks & they remain @Hm as well.

I probably won't be able to get -21 up here, probably more like -22 to 22.5, but I'll probably take it.....you'll have to excuse all the probablys.

Lets cash the JAYHAWKS @Hm this SAT Gambler....

good to hear from you nevada. i'm really sensing that this team is focused in all aspects of its game and the people i talk to who are associated with the team tell me that we are very well matched up against this team in all positions. I completely understand where pokernut is coming from b/c i have been on those games before. i just feel that this team is focused and they are trying to send a message to the bowl committee that they are for real. i really expect a 45-10 type game. i'll be coming out your way in october for a week long business conference. we should take our jayhawk winnings and go party it up!!! take it easy

    hey Gambler,
    I'm on KU-21.5 for 2.0*.
Have a good trip out west, & don't lose those KU winnings in the casinos out here if you're headed to the Reno/Tahoe area at all.

Be careful with KU. They are pretty good at choking at inappropriate times. Whether I go with them or against, they always seem to disappoint. Their schedule better reflects a cake walk at some middle school as opposed to a college football schedule. If the KU of old holds true, they will have a closer than expected game at some point. I do agree it looks very tempting with Toledo definetely not being as good as they have been. I would not call KU better until they actually play someone.

Both have basically same players back from last year in which Toledo won game despite being outplayed. If you go by the lines of the common games this year and the power rankings as of now Kansas is laying about 12 points too many. Will be curious to see how this plays out. Good luck to all that take Kansas.

But I will be at the game Pokernutt. Surely that counts for 12 points!!! I agree that it is not an easy game to handicap. I think the line will actually come down a little more and then i'll play it when it gets to about 20 or 20.5. If not, i'll still play it at 21.5

I think it's also worth noting that the toledo defense is hurting really bad right now with key players out. they lost 3 players last week (safety and cornerbacks). They lost another cornerback game 1 so they could really be hurting in the secondary.

I have had only 1 play this year that was a blow out loss.

    Guess which game --------------

    Central Michigan +8.5 vs Kansas

LOL enjoy the game. I should pass on this one. Too many conflicting things for me.

well, i was very happy to see the way this game turned out. I know it was a game in which a lot of people figured that KU would have a let down but believe me, this team is focused this year. Congrats to those who took the jayhawks.

we did cover pretty easily last week but there were still a few mishaps during the game. the receivers dropped way too many balls and Qb Reesing threw quite a few high balls. I haven't really talked to anyone yet about this game locally, but from what I have heard, Mangino wants to make a statement in every game. He is demanding that his players be focused no matter if it is 1st and 1 or 1st and 30. i know that every coach demands this but it is different with the Kansas program b/c we have not been able to get over the hump in the last 10 years. his goal is to bring this team together as one and keep them focused. if you saw the video on youtube.com the very first week, you will see that he is not putting up with anyone who is not part of the big "team". florida international has the longest losing streak and should be a very easy opponent for Kansas. I do like the -29 points and I will be playing it again this week. We do have a bye week and then we play rival Kstate. Based on this, Mangino's goal is to execute to a very high level this saturday to continue building the confidence. So yes, I will be on the Jahawks this week. I see this line moving to -33 or -34. I'm sure Dr. Bob will play it again! Oh ya, my score prediction for Toledo was pretty close. When breaking this game down today, I have it as a 55-13 game. I'm guessing it won't be as close as the Toledo prediction!!! Good luck to all of my gambling buddies!

Lovin that 2 Units they made me!

Let's let KU make us some more $$$$$ this season, keep the JAYHAWK updates comin man!

PS: catching up in the forum cause I'm campin, but now in a civilized area of camping....obviously. Nothing like tapping into the Sewer Plant unsecured hotspot......

thanks Nevada. Just remember, I will usually have a good feel for the KU games but it doesn't always mean I will be siding with KU. I have for the first 4 games but I think that will change once they begin conference play. I look forward to the KU/Kstate game on October 6th.

anxiously waiting for the line on kstate/ku. this series completely belongs to the home team over the last several year. i feel both teams are about equal talent and any line that has kstate favored by 3 or less is my big play of the year.

    Gambler,

As a KSU alum, I either bet with my team or pick another game. With that being said, this is the first time in over 10 years, I have real concerns about KU in Manhattan. KU has not played anyone, but unlike the past they are taking care of business (i hate to say). I feel KSU has a very slight edge with home field being a huge plus. However, unless this game comes off as a pick, I will probably stay away. I would guess KSU -3, which means I won't be playing.

I knew this line was going to go this high. i'm hoping a lot of people got this at the 29 or 30 points. This is going to be a game that will have KU winning by about 35. I would hesitate to lay 36 points but I'm hoping my 30 is good enough.

well, it looks like KU is doing it again. i actually left this game b/c it started to get ugly just now. my prediction earlier in this post was 55-13 so it is pretty close as it is now 55-3. I hope all of my KU followers got on this one! good luck to everyone

Get ready for the streak to end on October 6 in Manhattan. Just kidding, gambler. I got to admit, I am pretty impressed with how KU has been handling the cupcakes. They are definetely not leaving any crumbs like the KU of old would have. A lot of people critize the way Bill Synder did things, but I think this is another example of people following his tactics. Its all about confidence and KU is riding high. Going out and getting pounded 1 game by a big name would not have done this program any good at this stage of the process. I will be very curious to see the line for KU\KSU. I personally don't feel comfortable with KU getting a bye week and KSU playing a tough game in Texas next week. It should be one of the largest crowds in awhile as KU fans will have a reason to attend this year, which has not existed for over a 10 years. Good pick this week. I love the Chiefs tomorrow.
