The kids these programs recruit don't give a shit what happened 10 years ago let alone 20. They care about what have you done lately and what can you do for me now. Florida's a good program, top 10 or borderline top 10, but things are getting weird there. Too many weird hires. Every one the past 30 years outside Spurrier has ended in an odd exit. The guy before Mullen got caught humping a fish and made up fake death threats. Muschamp was actually recruiting well, but they lost patience with him because he wasn't winning on the field.

Florida may have a Texas type problem with too many cooks in the kitchen. They better hit on this next hire or they could be entering USC/Texas/Tennessee territory.

when they lost at Kentucky on 10/2 for their second loss (first was to BAMA) they basically quit.

I played at UF. The biggest problem is the alumni. We have the most entitled, negative nellies in all of sports, college or pro. The fanbase is one of the worst, every week it's something else that they are upset about. They have no vision or patience. They have run off so many coaches, they basically made Urban Meyer quit because it's not fun always being judged even after you've done a great job. THE MAJORITY OF FANS DO NOT SUPPORT THE PROGRAM. They are fair weather. Florida should be one of the best fanbases, they should pack stadiums all over the country but they don't. They barely pack the swamp and they get to the games late. It's even worse in basketball and baseball where we've also had success. Away games in any sport? Forget about it. It's embarrassing. None of the Florida schools travel well and none have upgraded their facilities. The big elephant in the room is that these Fla schools do not have a lot of money. They don't have big oil booster money like Texas A&M or UT, or big businesses like OSU or Bama. Incomes in the state of Florida are one of the worst in the country. Most people can not afford to travel.

Florida puts out the most top 300 athletes every year. But Florida schools are getting out recruited in their own back yard. Bama, OSU, Clemson, UGA are absolutely killing it in the state. Auburn, LSU, Texas A&M and OM are doing better in Florida than the Big3. Since 2016, 19 of 22 five star athletes committed to teams outside of Florida. Currently over half of the top 300 Florida kids are committed somewhere else. This isn't rocket science. Look at all the 5 stars that are playing in the NFL.

That said, Merlins absolutely sucked as a recruiter. The Gators should take a shot at Kiffin. I think a guy that could come in immediately and win is Gene Chizik. You need someone that can recruit Florida.

Yep... They dominated that game stats wise but still lost. 17 stupid penalties will usually do that. Mullen looked like he gave up. He should have fired Grantham last year.

You could say what you are saying about the alumni at any major football program, ND, USC, Nebraska.

    Look at Nebraska.

They ran Pellini out of town for only winning 9-10 games a year and now they can't win 6.

Are you related to Gene Chizik?? That guy can’t coach. He is a Cam Newton scandal season from being under .500 for his coaching career.

No, not related but you can't count his time at Iowa State. The school clearly did not care about winning and he was put in a bad position. He turned a bad Auburn team around. Yes Cam saved his ass but he coached that team up. He then lost half the team to the NFL and thus plummeted. Chiz is a defensive guru. He knows how to coach defense. He can also recruit Florida. You have to have those 2 things to win against Bama and UGA. He's worked with a lot of guys that are currently on NFL teams. That is huge. Who else is out there? A trendy pick would be Luke Fickell but he has ZERO clue how to recruit Florida. Most HS would close the door to him. UF cannot hire anyone without HC experience or big boy football experience. The field is slim.

Yes, every school has the crazy fanbase BUT NB fans travel well. The fans support the program with their wallets. Florida fans are some of the brokest fans in the country. They do not travel. Most sit on their hands and won't invest a wooden nickel but feel entitled to complain. They had a FireRonZook plane flying over his FIRST game as HC.

Florida is a far better program than those 3, and its not close. Stop talking you dumb shit. Plenty of good programs fire coaches all the time, that's college football.

LSU has fired head coaches repeatedly in the last 10 years, they are a top program.

Florida is #29 in win percentage behind 2 of those programs in the same decade you are referencing… Florida has not been great pal. I’m sorry. A successful team/season here and there is not a successful program. Almost every program can make that claim. Get your facts straight. You just like to argue but the facts don’t support your argument and neither does another coaching change.

I’ve heard this direct from a former Florida HC who I share a financial advisor with. He said the same exact things. Florida residents pretty poor overall. Most of the money from elsewhere and they aren’t Gator alumni.

What did Dan Mullen ever do to make people think he was a top-flight coach? At Mississippi State his teams finished third or higher in their division exactly once in nine years, a period in which he was six games below .500 in conference games. He had three good seasons at UF; I don't know, maybe he was presented with better players, but you can see what he did with whatever talent he had. I hope he's able to get by with the millions he still has coming.

Again, this is the SEC and he coached at mississippi state, not LSU or Alabama. He won more than he lost in the best conference in college football with a middle of the road roster. He's a good coach.

The minute he left as offensive coordinator at Florida Urban Meyer got fired and the offense went to shit.

People forget that Trask wasn't even recruited as top quarterback and he Mullens got Florida to the SEC championship game with him at Florida.

Florida has had no quarterback the last 2 years, including this year, they are trying to rebuild.

I knew this would be your response because you are a predictable moron. Doesn’t matter if you play in SEC, MAC or PAC 12. You play the games on the schedule. College football is about winning and they haven’t done it enough. Real simple…. Just like your -470 DOCUMENTED losers.

The blame goes back to Jeremy Foley. I mentioned several times in these forums and in the Gator forums that Foley was a cheapskate. He would not invest in the facilities or build up a recruitment budget. He's an arrogant prick who thought athletes and coaches would come to Florida because it's Florida. I've gone to SEC campuses and most put Florida to shame. It took years for them to build an indoor football practice facility. WTF? Then he reached on several coaches with little experience.

Florida used to be the standard of all colleges not named Stanford in college sports. Florida was title town back in the 2000's. Those years are long gone. We have a long way to go to get back to respectability and it starts with the fans.

One other thing is that Florida has some of the cheapest tuition in the country. It cost more to send my kid to daycare than to go to UF. Tuition has not risen in like a decade last I checked. Many of the leaders at UF have complained about this but the Board of Regents would not grant higher fees. Which means not enough money to pay for shit.

When Mullens left Florida as offensive coordinator the team fell apart, they will fall apart again.

The sec shits on every other confer nice in every way, Michigan's schedule is embarrassing other than when they played 2 to 3 ranked team a year, and they literally lose to almost every ranked team they play.

    Just stop you dumb shit.

Florida had a better record than the previous year every year under Mullens before last year, he's a good coach.
