    You nailed it.

Recruiting is the difference. Coaching, too. But, other than the results dame is really good. Fukin do something to get better and compete. A loss is a loss and multiple poor showings is multiple poor showings.....improve to be recognized.

    This is not news though.
Everybody and their puppy dog knew 'Bama would win by three scores or more.
And they did, they just missed covering the 19 spot by a hair, but was the end result a big shock to anyone.

Put ND is the SEC Conference and they lose three conference games each season on a regular basis and finish fourth in the Conference on a regular basis. That's my opinion anyway.

Notre Dame is in a nutshell, a good NCAA football team, not great and not close to elite that is usually way overhyped each and every season.

Sony used to be an elite TV maker, now, a cut above ordinary.
ND once upon a time used to be an elite football team, now like Sony better than ordinary.

People still think Sony is state of the art when it comes to TV's.
No more, it's the name recognition that gets them sales these days.
Same with Notre Dame, just because the gold helmets say Notre Dame, doesn't make them great anymore.

The college playoff game is as much about ratings and money as it is about making sure the best teams are playing, Notre dame is great for ratings and they will always be ranked higher than they should be.

    You got that right.
ND was the first college football team to have their own network.
In '91 NBC's deal with Notre Dame was five years, almost 40 million dollars. Pocket change today.NBC broke ties with the CFA, and if you remember a lot of the CFA family was pissed off at Notre Dame for that.
    Really pissed.
