It's still a bit early for me to actually bet a game yet. However, I am liking East Carolina 23½.

Geez...LSU only -16 against Miss St ?? I figure they are a good 10-14 points low on this one. I guess I should go and read up on Miss St before I pass judgement on this one, but history says it hasn't been close in awhile.

I agree beater, also think Iowa at -11 is way low. N Ill. lost alot of starters from an averege MAC team last year. Should be 50,000 Hawkeye fans at this one.

    hawk,

I believe he likes the other side...LSU line should be about 19.5 IMO, but remember the game is a weeknight ESPN game (road favs always have a tougher time covering)...

Yes, I've noticed on some of Razz's post that he thinks Ill will turn it around this year. I'm not convinced yet, but will go easy against them.

Pags thats a great bet!! I have this line, myself at 28. I really feel if Miss St can cover this 16.5, LSU will need some serious work. Miles will not be happy for this game to be that close. Not taking anything away from Miss St. but Miles has this team on a mission to prove to the world they are as good as USC if not better.

Because Illinois is the better team.

Missouri has the slightly better offense, it is true. Daniel will have a good year. However, the Illinois defense is very good and will only get better as Zook continues to bring in his players. J Leman is one of the best individual players in the nation, and one of my favorite to watch. Missouri, on the other hand, has no real defense. They got gashed by anyone who could run the ball last year (I've got news for you, they'll be even worse this year). The first half of the year, Missouri played a bunch of weak offenses or teams that never ran the ball - Murray State, Ole Miss, New Mexico, Ohio, Colorado, Texas Tech. Colorado put up 183, none of the other teams ran the ball at all. Not surprisingly, Missouri started out 6-0. But look how many rushing yards they allowed in their 2-4 finish.

    180 to Texas A&M
    262 to Kansas State
    231 to Oklahoma
    183 to Nebraska
    196 to Iowa State
    160 to Kansas

So, it's fair to say that Missouri struggles mightily with teams that can run the football, yes? Well, how about in a conference with three top ten teams and several highly touted running backs, Illinois led the Big 10 in rushing by a wide margin. 188.8 ypg (2nd was 175.5) and 5.2 ypc (second was 4.6). Sure, Pierre Thomas is gone, but Rashard Mendenhall is not a downgrade, and there are other capable backs, not to mention Juice, who will emerge as a star very shortly with both his arms and legs.

And, while I think that Ron Zook is overrated as a bad coach - the Florida situation was just one of those nearly impossible deals, while the Illinois situation is perfect for him - even the most diehard Zook basher will look favorably on him compared to Gary Pinkel. Honestly, I don't think this will be close. I'm probably crazy, but I think it's something like 37-17 Illini.

It will be interesting for sure to see if Juice can turn all that raw ability and talent into something amazing this year (or whether it will take another year for him to develop). Either way, this kid is going to be something special.

I believe that razz has commented on it somewhere in the forum, but I'll say my piece...as much as I respect OSU's skill position guys, their O line is somewhat questionable and their defense is completely questionable...

I used to call UGA, Field Goal University because Richt got a little conservative calling plays for a while...but the bowl game sold me, Bobo is an outstanding playcaller and he will make the unit more "ohhfensive"...I also think UGA is one of the more physical teams in the country (and they have one of the best secondaries in the country), which I think will ultimately wear OSU down...

I think UGA has the potential to be really good this year, but it's all dependent on how Stafford progresses. He has the player's around him to excel this year - I think Moreno is going to be a star, and the return of Sean Bailey will also help.

As for the UGA/OSU game: I like the Dawgs. I don't mind laying the 6.5 in a game that figures to be high-scoring. OSU will certainly put up some points, but I can't see their defense stopping UGA at all. Stafford should have a huge day. I think OSU keeps it close in the first half, but UGA's a much more complete team and I think they'll pull away in the 2nd half and win comfortably.
