Both these teams played weak schedules since the ACC was down this year and Stanford and USC had disappointing seasons, I think Clemson is clearly the better team.
ND's only impressive win was week 1 against Michigan, but Michigan was bad on the road all year and this game was Patterson's first game since transferring. Notre Dame beat at the time #7 ranked Stanford, but Stanford wasnt' that good this year, and Love was hurt in that game.
Teams that could throw the ball moved the ball easily on ND - USC, Stanford, Vanderbilt in the second half of that game. Notre Dame played bad quarterbacks all year too, USC was the first good passing offense they faced and USC moved the ball easily on them but kept fumbling.
Clemson's schedule hasn't been that hard but Clemson has consistently dominated teams like Boston College and NC State. Clemson blew a 4th down play against A&M that could have blown that game open in the first half and A&M has a dual threat QB, Book is nowhere near the runner.
Clemson's offense should move the ball easily on ND's weak pass defense, Clemson's best talent is at receiver, and ND's pass rush is nothing special. Book is a read option QB, he's not a great pocket passer, and Clemson's mediocre secondary should be fine, Clemson's defensive front is elite and ND will likely struggle to run.
