    College Kickers From 50+ Yards

Anyone got the stats on these? Every week I tune in and watch these guys brick it from 50. If I had to guess I'd say around 25% from 50+ yards and probably a little under 50% on over 43+ yards.

Coaches might want to think about punting or going for it when they are faced with a 50 yard field goal.

If you took away the top 5 kickers in all college it is probably 10%. Or maybe higher because they are so bad they rarely try it unless it is one of the top 5 or 10

Each Saturday it is the same story, kickers bricking field goals. Pitt kicker just bricked from 47 and then 35.

Earlier I was watching the Auburn game, Gus chose to go for a 54 yarder which I knew was going to miss, didn't even come close.

Coaches shouldn't even be allowed to send a kicker out there from 50+ lol.

Where does the NFL get all their kickers, because all them blow in college.

Are you serious? Do you watch the NFL? Nfl kickers are better then ever. They make 50 yarders look like extra points. Elliot, tucker, gostkowski on and on and on

Should go for it on 4th way more. Only time to try those long fg would be if you got sacked or something and its 3rd and really long.

I think Auburn opted to kick from 54 on a 4th and 5 down 10. But yeah I agree, no point in kicking from 50 unless you have a great kicker or it is 4th and long.

Penn State kicker just missed from 35. I would guess 50+ is probably around 10%. 40+ is probably about 40%, and 30+ is slightly about 50%. It is just amazing how much these kickers suck.

    well think about it

there are 32 starting NFL kickers and a very high percentage of them have been around for 10,15,20 years

Viniteri is like 46 on his 23rd year in the league. half his damn life, he's been in the league

There might be only 1 kicker per year in the college ranks, if that, that will stick around in the NFL for multiple years.

how many college kickers are out there?

of course is a steep drop off in talent

Michigan kicker who is usually on point, just missed from 40 yards out.

Anyone got stats on college kickers from today, they could be under 50% lol.

I just assume they're going to miss anything over 25 yards.

I would never want be to a college kicker... miss and lose a big rivarly game, got an entire campus hating you. No thanks.

They’re all recycled and they also sprinkle in the 3 or 4 best kickers from college each year. Most kickers have been in the nfl forever

haven't thought this through but i like the pooch kick on 3rd down. good chance it just rolls down near goal line. or someone fields it who may fumble. of course you also have issue of at least 5 players who can't tackle on field.

some of the bad teams wont even try more then 40 or 45 yards

so in reality, the accuracy % is probably higher than it should be

i always thought teams punted the ball way too much, a lot of pressure is on the defense if they are expecting you to go for it on 4th downs

and a lot of these teams in college should just be going for touchdowns. makes no sense to kick a fg if your guy is 50/50 to make it

NFL’ers cant make extra points either, so you’re accidentally right about making them look PAT’s

Oklahoma State kicker lol. I think he has missed something like 5 of his last 6 FG attempts and he just missed an extra point.
