It's all cupcakes when beating everyone by 30+ weekly .
Clemson gets a scare by Cuse and becomes "they beat a good team ", a " great team win " when knowing if Cuse came to Bama , they would lose by 30+ as well .
But it all means nothing , everyone wanted the BCS gone and a playoff .
Well , you got it . Teams will not go out and schedule a top 5 matchup when all it can do is hurt you even losing by one point .
This isn't NCAAB with 30+ games where you can get it away losing a couple to big time opponents and still make it into March Madness .
One loss here and you can be easily done and out of the playoffs discussion .

after this year people will really be calling for a top 6 or top 8 playoff I foresee at least 6 teams prob bidding for top 4 and gonna be mad at closing rankings. Dame prob gonna make a case as well as Oklahoma and WV if either win big 12.

Pre.harbaugh but they were ranked 8th in country. I don't think teams worry so much about an early season loss as much as they use to. Im not sure harbaugh wouldn't schedule that game now Michigan doesn't scare anyone. I don't remember how good Mich. was when they scheduled that game prob was down in the dumps though and got good and regretted they ever scheduled bama.

Bama was supposed to play Mich. St. in back to back years in 2016 and they cancelled.

Alabama's last 4 games of this season:

    LSU (5)
    Mississippi St (23)
    Auburn (8)
    Georgia (2)

Will Michigan or Washington be favored in any of these games?

Georgia (assuming Bama/GA SEC Championship) is only time Tide will not be a double-digit favorite. Before this past weekend's games, the shortest favorite Alabama would have been vs. any non-conference foe on neutral field was -10.5 over Ohio State. Not sure of that changes after Buckeyes scare vs. Penn State.

Let's see whether those teams will still have similar rankings at that stage

Here is what you 'Bama haters do not understand. Alabama plays their best ball when they need it. Saban has that ability. Let's take Saturday's Ohio State-Penn State game as an example of the difference between Alabama and the Big 10. Ohio State was not slightly better than Penn State was. Penn State was slightly worse. Alabama does not beat itself. Big 10 teams do it all the time.

Before you guys jump off the deep end calling for an expansion to the playoffs (which is NOT going to happen in the forseeable future), tell me ho many times have all 4 teams in the playoffs been undefeated when the playoffs start?

This year, Saban will name what the score will be, meaning this team may be the best Alabama team ever.

Undefeated means nothing. Who did you play? It's a lot harder going undefeated with Bama schedule than some of these other power 5 conference teams.

I agree. My point is this. There never has been a season with 4 undefeated teams in the playoffs. It is still going to be a popularity contest. Ohio State is terrible, but as long as they are undefeated, they will be a lock to get into the playoffs even though 3 or 4 SEC teams could defeat them. Talk about cream puff schedules.

There is a monkey wrench this year though because Notre Dame will get in if they go undefeated, stealing a bid from one conference champion.

I think they'd still get in with a loss and the fuss will continue

Doubt that. I am not so sure they are legit top 10 team let alone top 4, so a loss should knock them out.

They have a pretty easy schedule. Cuse is the best team left on their schedule.

I just looked at their schedule so yea unless much politics is involved they shouldn't get in with a loss the big name teams on schedule arnt that good this year. So I guess they prob run the table. Isn't their a big 12 championship game? No divisions in that conf. right? So okla and wv could play in it right? Even though they play one another last game of season, what if they split? Whoever wins the title game gets in I spose. Unless an undefeated team like a ucf says wait a minute what about us.

Saban has one of his two toughest tests of the season on Saturday. Get past Georgia and destroy either OU or Ohio State and then we have another showdown against Clemson, another team not to be taken lightly.

The bad news is that Alabama's schedule actually gets EASIER next season. Their toughest non-con game is against Duke, and their crossover games are at South Carolina and home against Tennessee.
