Yeah that's pretty surprising, especially since several people who wanted to enter weren't able to due to the limited entries. Will SBR allow those who didn't to make their picks late? In one sense doesn't matter, they just restricted themselves into which games they'd be able to pick. But in another sense not really fair since they might get more information as to how the lines move or if there is some late injury that causes a pick to really change in strength. I assume they will not be allowed to - rather surprising they did that, 2500 points is not a small amount to most to just toss away due to forgetting/being slow...

Whether the rules are "good" or not, they were spelled out pretty clearly so if you didn't follow them, well sorry but can't blame anyone but yourself for that.

And imo it's not crap at all - I would have waited to make my picks also (at least some of them) until nearer to the time of the game in case something happened (e.g. injury), and/or I could get a better idea who the experts preferred and so on. If some people were allowed to wait to pick on a certain game until right before it while others had to do so two weeks before, clearly the former people would have an advantage. By requiring everyone to pick by the same deadline, no one got an edge in that regard.

And imagine how chaotic it would be for them if everyone started picking at different times both compared to others and picking different games at different times (presumably right before any game they wanted). The smart thing to do is to do what they are doing: having everyone submit by same deadline in same format with all their picks at once.

When I signed up there wasn't a deadline date to enter picks let alone a mention of it. There was only a mention of a deadline to pay the fee. Maybe I'm crazy, but I'm certain there wasn't because I remember combing the post for it. I only saw a mentioned deadline for the championship game. It seemed implied that as long as your picks were in the official thread before the game that it counted. Seemed odd but I thought those were the rules. Now it looks like a deadline was added on to rule 4 of the fine print.

I've been on the road for work all week and haven't even looked at the lines or matchups. I planned to look at it after this weekend, knowing it would limit my options but that there's more than 15 games. Obviously I'd like to participate still so SBR let me know if that's possible. Take out games with massive line swings if you must, if there are any.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I'm certain there wasn't because I remember combing the post for it. I only saw a mentioned deadline for the championship game. It seemed implied that as long as your picks were in the official thread before the game that it counted. Seemed odd but I thought those were the rules. Now it looks like a deadline was added on to rule 4 of the fine print.

I've been on the road for work all week and haven't even looked at the lines or matchups. I planned to look at it after this weekend, knowing it would limit my options but that there's more than 15 games. Obviously I'd like to participate still so SBR let me know if that's possible. I'm with you. I paid almost $100 in points and some of us actually have busy lives. I put up my due, there is more than 15 bowl games left, so why such a sharp deadline UNLIKE any other sbr contest. In the 4th rule of the fine print does it emphasize this rule. I figured like many that the "entry deadline" was the important part and as long as you had enough pics (ala BTP BTB etc) you were ok.

Deadline to enter picks is seen once not twice like you and LT care to claim. Why not answer bosigga question about line 4, on if rule was there from the beginning or added later? If indeed added later as suggested then there is a problem.

My problem with all of this is that MANY did not follow the rules and they are still here.

Rule 4 was there from the get-go, but the red print above the video was more obvious. Also, you have been here since 2009 so you should have known that deadline for all picks has been 12 noon first Saturday every year of this contest. In fact, the footnotes in post 1 were probably straight copy from last year with only the date changed for 2017.
