#6 Mr. Fidget (10/1) , Is protected in this spot, ran second to a next out winner Titan's Will and shortens up. I don't like horses coming from Rice's barn of course, but this is one of the more underrated barns in NY with Mr James Ferraro.

If a horse runs in a Maiden Claiming race and comes back or moves up level, doesn't have to enter for the tag and can race in a Maiden Claiming field protected?

Some stats after 2 days concerning the protected claiming tag for horses running at same or higher level than previous race. This is for all claiming races, by the way, not just maidens.

Day 1 had 4 claiming races where at least 1 horse waived the claiming price. Following shows number of horses running with no tag and ITM finishes.

Race 1... 1 runner(winner)

Race 4...5 runners(winner, 3rd,4th)

Race 7...4 runners(2nd,4th)

Race 10...2 runners(2nd)


Day 2 results...

Race 3...5 runners(winner, 2nd, 4th)

Race 7...3 runners(all ran out)



Tomorrow there are 4 claiming races but only 1 horse(race 2, #2 Chaysenbryn) is running without a tag.
