UPDATE: Jake Luton may have a thoracic spine fracture, according to a social media post from the quarterback's father, Judd.

PULLMAN, Wash. -- Oregon State quarterback Jake Luton has been discharged from an area hospital after being removed from the field on a stretcher and cart during the fourth quarter of Saturday's game at Washington State, according to a team spokesperson.

Luton appeared to be knocked unconscious after WSU safety Jalen Thompson hit him in the head following a 9-yard gain with 11:40 remaining and the Beavers trailing 49-16.

Luton stayed on the ground motionless for several minutes, during which multiple family members attending the game came to the field level. The 6-foot-7 junior college transfer had his facemask removed and gave a thumbs up from the stretcher as the cart with medical personnel took him to a local facility.

Andersen did not have details on Luton's medical condition immediately following the game, but the coach said he felt "helpless" while watching Luton get taken off the field. Teammates Ryan Nall and Jordan Villamin added that they had been informed after the contest that Luton was moving all extremities.

"His health's bigger than all of this," Nall said. "At the end of the day, you want to make sure he's OK, and we got good word that he's gonna be alright.
