    The Oregon Ducks have dismissed senior wide receiver Darren Carrington from the program, head coach Willie Taggart announced on Friday night in a released statement.

    “I have visited with Darren Carrington and informed him that he is no longer a member of our program. We will always consider Darren a Duck and support him in any way we can. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

    Carrington was arrested on a DUI charge back on July 1 and will not be a part of the Oregon roster heading into what would have been his senior year.

    He appeared in 12 games as a junior, hauling in a career-high 43 receptions for 606 yards and five touchdowns. Overall, he had three balanced seasons of production for Oregon, twice finishing second in the Pac-12 in average yards per reception (2014 and 2015). For his career, he finishes with 112 catches for 1,919 yards and 15 touchdowns.

    Carrington arrived at Oregon as a 4-star recruit out of San Diego, whose father — also Darren Carrington — played in the NFL for eight seasons with five different teams after playing collegiately at Northern Arizona. Listed as a wide receiver, cornerback, and even quarterback, coming out of high school, Carrington will have another season in which he is still eligible to play for a new program.

    Quick, off the top of your head, name a WR from USF or years ago at WKU.

    Exactly. Willie Taggart's success thrives off of his system not the receivers, and he has a really good QB. Once it's fully implemented, that offense won't miss a beat.

    Oregon's problem is that they have no speed at the WR spot. But not to worry. Oregon will score plenty of points on offense. The big problem is on defense, where Oregon returns 8 starters who were just terrible last season. Back to back games at Stanford and UCLA will not help very much, and they also go to UDub. This team is capable of 10 wins, but 8 wins will be a good start for Taggart. Will Taggart be a success story, like UDub HC Peterson, or a failure, like ex Texas HC Strong? Both came from "Group of 5" teams.
