Who will the College Football National Championship and Why?

semi-final games are in New Orleans and Pasadena

since the NCAA is all about making money i am assuming Oregon will get to play in Pasadena and Alabama or whoever wins the SEC will get to play in New Orleans....

So basically this will be a huge home field advantage for a team like Alabama playing in SEC country and Oregon playing on the west coast in Cali.

Then again if UCLA beats Oregon then UCLA pretty much gets a home game in the semi-final.

but i see it setting up something like this

Florida State vs Alabama at the semi final Sugar bowl

Ohio State vs Oregon/ UCLA at the semi final Rose bowl

Thoughts??? who are you guys picking to win the whole thang?

and wtf you have both iowa and ohio state in the final 4???

i dont think any conference is allowed to have 2 teams in the final 4, not even the SEC.

I could see Ohio State winning it if Braxton Miller is 100% healthy, he played horrible vs Clemson but supposedly he was extremely hurt and Guiton should have been in there instead.

how did the Bucks secondary look this spring?

Two Big 10 teams and USC? Who ever said that you were a pro gambler. You are NOT. Don 't make me prove this to you. Just who do you claim to know in Vegas anyways? It's about time that I make you put your money (points in this case) where your mouth is. I am willing to wager you 2000 betpoints that two (or more) of your teams do NOT make it to the final four. Is it a wager, or are you going to wimp out, like many do in here.

Iowa currently favored in 11 of their 12 regular season games.....but will be fortunate to win 9 of the 12

They appear ear plugged for an 8-4 or 9-3 season.

I agree Ohio St makes it with that schedule into the top 4 but no way TWO Big Ten teams make it.

    Baylor/Oklahoma
    Alabama
    Ohio State
    UCLA

Florida State ends up on the outside looking in at #5

How can the defending champions be left out if they lose 0 or 1 game? Certainly either Baylor or Oklahoma, who do NOT play a CC game, will be left out before Florida State who does, unless you believe that they will lose their CC game.

Oregon has the best QB in the country. I will take Mariota over Winston any day. What I get a kick out of is how the national rags try to play both ends against the middle by picking Winston as the First String All American QB, but picking Mariota as the Heisman winner.

Fisher is building a depth centered program but just not sold yet on the buying into it quite yet. I'm not wagering money they don't make it into the top 4 yet, but just saying it'll take seeing them perform after the 'cinderella season' for Winston and losing a few key weapons on both offense and defense - Jernigan, Joyner, Freeman and Benjamin- for me to think they are ready.

Florida State lost a ton of talent to the NFL two years ago and they ended up winning the National Championship anyways. They are a machine now.

Homer pick but I see value in TCU at 600 to 1.

The defense is already the best in the Big 12 and returns 9 starters, and they are bringing in 2 new offensive coordinators, a lot of cappers have TCU going 9-3 but if the offense does better than expected they have a favorable enough schedule to win double digit games. Only two tough road games, at Baylor and at Texas, Gary Patterson defenses always do well against Baylor and Texas is a question mark. Favorable home schedule.

600 to 1 are odds reserved for teams that will struggle to even get bowl eligible, not teams that capping services and publications like Athlon/Phil Steele are predicting to go 9-3. That is where the value is.

Iowa has an easy schedule but Kirk Ferentz has mastered the art of losing a game he shouldn't

Plus even if they go 12-0, which is very possible, they have to play a good team in Big 10 title game. And then go win 2 straight playoff games.

    Not seeing it

TCU will be lucky to wn more than 7 games. They have no offense at all. They simply do not have Big 12 caliber of players on offense. Their defense will have to carry othe load for them, and that does not cut it in the Big 12. They play OU, at Baylor, and then Okie State in a three week period that will end any hope of a Big 12 title, much less national dreams. They may finish as high as 3rd, but they have no chance against OU and Baylor. 600-1 or 6000-1. It makes no difference. A losing wager is a losing wager, and this is a losing wager.

They close with Wisconsin and Nebraska at home in 6 days. They still are coached by Ferentz. They will lose one of those games. They have no shot against Ohio State or Michigan State.

    Only these conferences are eligible?

What if a Mac team dominates and goes undefeated, they don't get a shot?

Oklahoma State is going to be hot garbage this year. They lost more starters/letterman than any other team in the nation. And they have to play in Fort Worth.

Phil Steele has TCU going 9-3, Jimmy Boyd has them going 9-3, Athlon has them going 9-3, ESPN.com has them going 8-4, their win total is 8, so to say that they "will be lucky to win 7 games" is silly. The problem with the offense last year was not scoring enough points, but turning the ball over and going 3 in out. They don't need to score more points, they just need to protect the ball and not give the opponent's offense gift field position, that right there is worth 4 extra wins from last year. Even with their crap offense they still lost 7 of their 8 games late in the 4th quarter.

Close, but wrong. The semi-finals will be held in the Sugar and Rose Bowls, but the #1 team will play the #4 team in the venue closest to their campus. #2 and #3 will play in the other venue. If Florida State is #1 and Alabama is #2, then Florida State plays in the Sugar Bowl (it's closest venue) and Alabama plays in the Rose Bowl. It is entirely possable that a #2 Alabama could play a #3 UCLA in the Rose Bowl, even though the Rose Bowl is UCLA's home field.
