Does anyone else ever feel demoralized?...

I have had a horrible last two days on college football. I feel I put so much time and effort and research into my picks only to come out on the losing end. I know its apart of what we do, but anyone else ever feel like its a spirit breaker when you go on cold streaks?

    Short response: Yes.

Long response: Worst feeling ever. If you go large on bets it happens. One loss can wipe out hours/days/weeks of efforts. What happened to me yesterday was devastating. This whole gambling habit is devastating. Too many ups and downs, both emotional and financial. Win or lose, it absorbs too much time and takes control of how you feel. I don't like that part. I'm a really happy person, but when shit like yesterday happens it destroys my entire psyche for the rest of the day/week.(Depending on how big the loss) In my case: Making $2900 profit in 2 days. Coming on SBR and seeing everyone else guaranteeing A&M by a million points. Second guessing my fade rational for $500. Going all in $3900 on a greedy compulsive bet on Texas A&M. Lost my mfking mind. I'm back to normal today, but it hurts.

I always remind myself any time I make a bet, that it could lose. So if a pick loses, I've kinda already accepted it. The only time I really ever feel demoralized is after chasing and/or losing bets that were too big due do lack of bankroll discipline. And also that one time I tilted the penetrate out. That was a brutal lesson learned.

Yup...been there done that...I once built a bankroll up to 1500 on sports book.com and flushed it all down the toilet chasing losses ...all in one night. Terrible terrible feeling. Fu#ked up my week.

Losing sucks. It's a terrible feeling and it can really turn you into a c*nt to be around if you're anything like me. The worst part of a big loss aside from the initial shock is the ensuing morning.. waking up and re-remembering your shame. haha. I've crashed and burned many times, losing huge chunks of cash on a "sure bet" moneyline pick and eventually chasing my bankroll to 0. I'm doing my best to stay away from those expensive bets and pay attention to high risk high reward bets that require less investment.. it's luckily paid off the past couple days with many underdogs coming through in Bowl games.

Hang in there.. and although I can't take my own advice, it's not the worst thing to take a night or two (or many) off from gambling if it's a detriment to your mental health.

that was very well stated, sometimes its best to take some time off, and remember, no such thing as a SURE THING!! Lots of scammers out here, Play small, if you can, get an online casino and only play with what you have to lose.

I've actually never lost a bet. But if and when I ever do, I'll let you know how I feel.

    Lifetime record is 342-0-2
Those two pushes were a bit of a bummer, I'll be honest.

I appreciate all the kind words guys. Its funny to hear other peoples stories and its exactly how I feel, even though there is no way someone else knows how I feel but you all hit it right on the head. Good luck with the rest of your plays this bowl season!

I feel ya' Jay Money. This is a great thread - I am feeling horrible after Stanford's implosion yesterday...really thought ML was safe bet with that defensive leader for Spartans out. And then I put a puny play on UCF, when I should have gone much bigger. That win came nowhere close to covering my loss from Stanford.

Anyone else out there have a full month and then some without having 2 straight days of wins (among 3/4 sports) And what's worse, the time and effort put into stats research and reading "expert's" opinions and tailing some of the best cappers, and still losing.

Thanks for posting this jburge...I think a LOT of people are in the same boat after these bowl games.

Taking time off is much easier said than done. The more time you put into picks, the harder it is to let go. You want to get it back...the time, the bankroll...the high. I am honestly having trouble stopping though I have lost (just 20% of bankroll, but still a loss) in the past couple months. Back at it today...just trying to spend less time and just going with my gut more.

Also hard for me to stay away from 3-4 team ML parlays. They seem so easy, but then out of the blue, 1 team stinks it up, and then you lose more than just betting the spread on that one game.

We all have bad days/weeks. Fortunately I only bet on Football because it's the game I understand and follow the most (NFL), so I am forced to take a break and start planning for the next season.

I am still learning and sharpening up my game, but one thing I don't do is go all in. I start with a bankroll every season, and that's my limit. I have been very lucky the last few seasons and able to walk away in the +.

I may play 2-3 units on games I really like, but I never do it to try and win back losses. Also, once I started concentrating on sides and stop messing around with parlays so much I started doing much better. I still parlay every now and then for fun, especially College games because I don't follow it enough.

And as long as you aren't gambling away rent money, it should not hurt so bad when you lose right?

Hey! I am 0-8 the last four days, all bowl games. After a nice win streak. Today I am going with OK and the under. Maybe Memphis in the NBA.

I may side with you on the Under Rudyard, but I'm taking Phoenix over Memphis.

On this topic, I found this book extremely helpful. It's centered around Wall Street, not sports betting, but addresses how positive and negative swings in performance can affect your future decision making. It's in no way a self-help book, but it's great for perspective.

Everyone will lose sometime and not unusual to have a 2 day losing record. The important thing is to figure out why you lost. And correct that issue if it can. Some games, it was turnovers, a bad break, bad ref call etc. Can't do anything about those, but the ones in which a team had more momentum and wanted to be there and matchup issues. Fix those.

Simple ... Only bet as much as you can tolerate losing without going into full fledged depression.

    NOT worth it otherwise.

Although I follow this advice I still do hate to lose. Take a breather and start back small.

Has happened to me. The worst is the ML bet. That's the king of all blows. You're worried about the number but know deep down there is no way this team is going to lose to an inferior opponent so you take the -250 ML and bet the house to so you win decent money......and you lose. That's the biggest kick in the gut of them all.

Yeah, I need to get out of that mindset. I will start making some spread plays, but will take OSU ML since it's just -143.

-250 money line plays lose all the time. You are better off moneylining a -600 favorite; NFL if u are going to do it. Never moneyline a college bet.

    Raptors +3.5 Win
    Hawks +3 Win
    Pelicans ML Win
    Clippers ML Win
    Grizzlies +4.5 Win
    Clemson ML Win
    Ok State ML LOSE
