    I just don't understand the mentality behind throwing the ball short and hoping to lateral it all the way downfield. Has that ever once worked in the history of football? The Stanford-Cal game 30 years ago is the closest thing but that was a kickoff.

    Try the Hail Mary. At least those work every once in a while, even on situations where the QB can't reach the end zone.

    Nfl game where the kicker missed the xp was the most recent. Carney was the kicker. Think it was the saints.

    In college you need to have the XP when the game is within two points as a return would tie the game. Anything more and it's a no go.

    NFL they must have it no matter what the score is.
