    Northern Illinois -34.5

Thoughts on this? They're at home against Western Michigan and need all the style points they can get to obtain a BCS bowl game.

Tough one to cap tbh. I think you are right about N. Illinois wanting to come out and win this game in humiliating fashion, but what will central michigan's motivation be? They have kept some games close and I think if they come out and play hard they probably cover. Good luck to you, but for me its a:

    Pass.

Yeah, if it was less than 5 TDs I'd prolly be all in on this. Tough one.

Last time I checked 34.5 is less than 5 TDs.

Technically, 5 touchdowns is 30 points.

5 TDs = 35 points, assuming the extra points. Of course, those are far from guaranteed in college football.

Bigger game next week Vs either Bowling Green or Buffalo for the Mac Championship. Starters could be done earlier than usual/seniors getting time that they usually wouldn't.

What if they yank Lynch at halftime when their up by 24 to avoid injury?

Glad you mentioned that, I hadn't thought of it. I don't think they would, though - IMO they'd be more likely to let Lynch pad his incredible stats for the Heisman.

Been a big Husky backer all year. They should roll , but 35 now. You need more than 5 TD's to cover. W. Mich blows, but if I was Husky coach, would tell Lynch, don't take unnecessary risk. Stay healthy for possible big bowl game. Run wild then. I'd give them Stingily and then more Stingily. They have other nice quick backs to mix it up. Mix in a little play action.

Good point about pulling guys. Final home game for Huskies. They will be comfortably ahead and lock in amazing home streak. Coach always lets seniors and kids coming back next year see a little game time in final game, especially with epsn2 in the house. Huskies roll but more than 5 tds?

35 is pretty rough, but I still think they cover. Like someone else said, they should be aiming for style points for the BCS bid. Also think they'll be trying to improve Lynch's chance at Heisman rather than play it safe to protect health for the bowl game. Especially after Mariota and Manziel having bad weeks.

Not taking the 35 straight... but teasing it down to 27 and doubling that with Baylor -6.5 @-155 or so. I'm pretty comfortable with a 4 TD win.

You are more than welcome, as I have shared a lot of quality postings over the past couple of years. My last post by the way, was not directed towards the thread, but directed at the particular poster who posted previous to my post, as I was agreeing with his assessment.

My ONLY worry is the Western Mich coach is a former N Ill player & coach. So.... just like Alabama stopped pounding Colorado State...... will Northern Illinois not try to embarrass one of their own. My guess------ Northern Illinois needs to win this game big for BCS points and the Western Mich coach knows that and wont take this beating personal.

Northern Illinois defense has been playing very well, and Western Michigan is not going to be able to move the ball at all against them, as there offense is not much to begin with. The offensive and defensive lines of Northern Illinois are going to be able to dominate the lines of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, allowing Lynch and the backs of the Northern Illinois offense the opportunity to run and run and run. They could very well be up by 28 to 30 points by halftime.

As far as resting Lynch, I do not see it happening, as it is senior night, and they will let him enjoy the limelight until the final seconds tick off the clock. I also do not see the coaching staff of Northern Illinois pulling back the reins as they are very well aware of what is at stake with the bowl situation.

It is Northern Illinois all the way to the pay window!

Of note - WMU has scored just 192 PPG in 11 games this year, and with a spread of -34.5, NIU would need to put up around 50 points for me to feel comfortable.

They've done that 3 times this year - 481 points in 11 games, though this is a seriously weak opponent. I'd rather roll with NIU though - maybe we see something like a 49-10 final or more.

haven't seen 1st quarter or 1st half odds on 5dimes yet, but keeping an eye on it. I might bet on either on those two. NIU to cover, but waiting for those odds to make sure.

any idea what time 5dimes opens the 1q/1h TTotal lines? NoIll 1q and 1h has been my money maker all year (except when I put the damn house all over them vs UMASS and it conveniently wouldn't let me place any wagers on that game)

I am liking the first half -20. I don't think Northern Illinois will cover 35 points for the game for all the reason stated here in these posts. I am glad I read up on this game! Please note Northern Illinois did not cover -20 the first half for the last two games. I just did some research.

My book has 1st Q -9.5 but -125. High juice but I think worth it.

This is certainly a dont get cute game....All bases have been touched here on all views, but NIU needs they style points for BCS consideration. Lynch is in the middle of a wide open heisman race, senior night so Lynch will play until the final whistle....W Mich 116th in the nation against the run, temps will favor a run based game and play right into NIU wheelhouse. This game has 55-59 to 7-10 written all over it....It doesnt hurt that NIU has a fvorable ATS record as well. Cheers fellas

A lot of points, big spread = heavy lead and running the clock in the 2nd half.

I.E. a play of 'under' the total of 62.5
