Friday night college football: Navy at SJ State -2

A very difficult game to cap here, a contrasting style of play.

Navy is a better team (statistically) than SJ St. but very inconsistent esp. on the road. Navy Pass defense number is screwed for not playing vs passing teams, and they got burned through the air when faced strong passing teams (which is SJ State)

SJ St is also very inconsistent throughout the year, and BAD against the Run but their aerial attack is great

All other advantages point to SJ St.

Navy have the motivation of revenge (lost 2 straight years to SJ State)

Navy did not do well vs West coast teams (0-4) Kickoff time will be 9:30 PM = bed time for Shipmen

Navy clinched the 6th win and accepted a Bowl game last week, nothing to gain here = no motivation for Navy

SJ State need the 6th win TODAY (next up is Fresno St)

SJ St play with lot of confidence as they defeated Navy 2 straight years, and this one is at HOME

SJ St have a new coaching staff which is a concern vs triple option attack but more than half of Spartans defensive players were the same one that held Navy to lowest offensive output last year

Spartans new DC, Kenwick Thompson, have the right idea to slow down Navy ground game. He made defensive players practiced against their offense WITHOUT THE BALL.... playing assignment defense.

I believe Spartans can limit the damage on the Ground and win over the Air for their Bowl berth.

Take SJ State to win and cover.

    BOL to everyone

Nice write up. This is a coin toss. What do you think of the O/U boys?
