Are field goal kickers in college football just not as important as they used to be??

With the Baylors, Oregons, Texas Ams and others, when you have the ball on offense...........you better be gettn TDS not FGS. The significance of a good FG kicker on your squad just isnt essential any more. The game has changed and youd be hard pressed to name 5 top FG kickers in the country. hows that for a trivia question??

kickers are important its just that most of them are so unreliable you would rather take the chance with your offense in converting a 4th down. its amazing how often you will see a kicker miss a gimme and then that gimme comes back into play later in the game. it also depends on who you are playing and like you said sometimes fgs are not going to cut it but they are an essential part of the game. it blows my mind that most schools cannot find one decent athlete on the entire campus to blast 40 yarders. thats such an easy bs free ride thru school and they cant make it happen.
