I feel I've got tomorrow nights football games nailed, going to put plays on Clemson and the Eagles, and going to put a LARGE 2 team teaser linking them, allowing Clemson to only need to win by a TD and allows Eagles to lose by a field goal.
That part of my plan feels rock solid and I'm confident I'll make good money there... My question for you is this.
Tomorrow afternoon there is an unusually large slate of baseball games, with several playoff teams involved with 'magic numbers' dwindling. These ball games should be completed by kickoff in the football games so which ones should be best exploited to strengthen the football plays later in the evening?
I'm most interested in three chalky selections:
San Diego Padres at Pittsburgh Pirates 12:35 PM ET Season Rd/Hm Last Start Last 3 App STARTERS GS REC ERA AIP REC ERA DATE OPP DEC IP H ER REC IP ERA I. Kennedy (R) 29 6-9 4.85 6.0 1-5 5.28 9/13 @ATL ND 6.0 5 3 1-0 17.0 2.65 G. Cole (R) 17 8-7 3.33 6.0 5-5 3.95 9/14 CHC W 7.0 5 1 2-0 20.0 1.35
I don't see the Pirates getting swept in a 4 game series against the Padres in the midst of this playoff push, they are "due" for an offensive outburst and a win (if you believe in being "due" in baseball like I do) and Cole has been very good in September.
I believe he acts as a much needed 'stopper' here for the Bucs.
Seattle Mariners at Detroit Tigers 1:08 PM ET Season Rd/Hm Last Start Last 3 App STARTERS GS REC ERA AIP REC ERA DATE OPP DEC IP H ER REC IP ERA J. Paxton (L) 2 2-0 0.75 6.0 1-0 0.00 9/14 @STL W 6.0 2 0 2-0 12.0 0.75 D. Fister (R) 30 12-9 3.67 6.1 7-5 3.46 9/14 KC L 7.2 8 1 1-2 21.0 2.57
Tigers just got pounded tonight and shut out to boot. Their offense doesn't get shut down for extended periods of time and they're too talented to lose this series at home to the lowly Mariners.
I'm a little worred about this Paxton kid and his hot start but I don't think he's going to go unmolested in Tiger stadium against one of the top lineups in baseball.
St. Louis Cardinals at Colorado Rockies 3:10 PM ET Season Rd/Hm Last Start Last 3 App STARTERS GS REC ERA AIP REC ERA DATE OPP DEC IP H ER REC IP ERA M. Wacha (R) 7 3-1 2.81 5.2 2-0 3.21 9/14 SEA L 5.0 4 2 1-1 18.0 1.00 R. Oswalt (R) 5 0-6 7.71 6.1 0-1 9.00 9/14 @ARI L 4.2 7 2 0-3 9.2 7.45
My Cards have taken 2/3 so far from the Rockies after the come back win tonight and I think this is a simple case of a Cards team on a roll combined with a Roy Oswalt in one of the last starts of his career, having been SHELLED his last 3 consecutive starts while Wacha has been on fire since returning to the rotation.
Chalky I know, but which ones would you say offer the greatest level of security?
