    Rice/Houston QBs

The starting QB for each team is injured. McHarque has a concussion and so does Piland.

i read McHarque was cleared for practice today, so he appears to be on track. lean is Houston here regardless. anything under a field goal. Piland had a concussion last year also, so strongly suspect he misses this game, nothing concrete is out there yet though. they like the freshman which helps the decision, and fact that Piland has regressed...writing is on the wall. Rice secondary supposed to be decent but Kansas maybe wins that game without the half dozen drops and if QB change was made earlier. Rice offense with only one TD in that game. Houston should score 35. better skill players all around. WR Greenberry and co. won't drop those balls like Kansas. they will gash them up the middle also.

    he may play, he's questionable

Rice quarterback Taylor McHargue is expected to be cleared to practice Monday after leaving early in the fourth quarter against Kansas with concussion-like symptoms.
Coach David Bailiff said McHargue was “kind of dazed” and not as alert when talking with coaches on the sideline following his second interception early in the fourth quarter. He was removed from the game and replaced by Driphus Jackson.
“He was not responding the way … he usually has a twinkle in his eye when you’re talking to him and he didn’t,” Bailiff said. “It was a concern after that last interception. You just talk to him and didn’t feel good about it, so we wanted our staff to evaluate him.”

as a Houston backer here i hope Driphus (what's going on in the black community??) plays. sounds like he's the guy who seems like the answer and positive option, until he gets on the field with extended playing time and then weaknesses (i.e. THROWING) are exposed. Houston by no means has front 7 strength, but they have couple guys in secondary who can handle Rice wideouts one-on-one.
