The trolls are coming out and .....
The trolls are coming out more everyday, as you can see from yesterday and already today. In the best interests of the forum I ask that you just ignore them, as any type of response to there postings will be providing them the attention they are seeking. It has been my experience on internet forums that if they are ignored, they will eventually go away. One response to them can destroy the content of a entire thread.
there is actually an ignore option so you dont see certain peoples posts. I've found it quite helpful, especially in players talk
Please inform us where to locate it, as I most certainly will use it, and I am sure it will be helpful to many others.

SBR brass should consider eliminating transferring post from another forum into the CFB forum. If a poster is too damn good to post here in the CFB FORUM...then I won't read him. That's were alot of the crap posts are coming from.
agreed, don't like clicking on a thread in here only to be takin to players talk. If they start it in players talk, leave it in players talk.

After the last junior high school thread was dumped on the CFB Forum...I have a suggestion for whoever makes decisions here at SBR.
Start a CFB Forum II and allow those of us who prefer a different kind of thread than having BS kitty crap dumped on us from other forums.
Should be simple an I will guarantee you II will dominate the other site.

I totally agree. Start a thread for the idiots who post "Alabama -20" and that is all. We do not need to see that trash. Also get rid of the homers who think that their team will go undefeated and that every player on that team is an All American. Total garbage. These fools also tend to try and sound like Totes. Phrases like "take it to the back" and "it's a lock" are nothing more than B.S. Keep it OUT of the CFB Forum.

A few years back, I was a proud poster at EOG college football. One of the best CFB informational forums on the net. It was ROCKING! Ask former moderator Blondie who was here. She was there at that time. Then in comes a new guy (John Kelly) who totally had NO regard for the individual sports forum...he was all about Players Talk with his BS buddies and their BS silly Crap. The BS Crap Forum did OK...the others DIED.
Please take a look at EOG's college football forum now...please! What was once the best on the net is now a wasteland.
Players Talk has a place at every network...not knocking that. Forcing the BS on others and who could care less about the actual individual forum has LOSER written all over it. My last post on this shit....tired of it stupidyy.

Guys I'm w/ you 100%, however can't let these little things bother you.
I will have a thread tracking my plays and providing write ups for each game, my suggestion is to simply start a new thread each sunday for the upcoming week. We can discuss opening lines, matchups, etc. The type of poster that will post in that thread are the ones we want for good discussion/info.
Won't have people coming in there (as much) just typing bama -20...
In years past, we also had a thread that was specially for ML Parlays. I personally don't play them that much, but it was a good thread, providing many winners.
I'm really looking forward to this, and really like the fact how workhorse is getting this sub forum together. I enjoy reading every poster in this thread.
This can be a wonderful place for ALL CFB lovers. I admit I messed up including the L-kid being one of us whose hearts are collegefootball.
All good football guys rise to the top...........glory hounds or kiss ass posters will not.
I guess that my take on it is this: I do think that there are some fairly sharp guys in here that are willing to contribute some positive things that would be beneficial to this forum. I also know for a fact that there is too much noise that is put up with way too much. Yes, it's a public forum and I frankly HATE censorship!!! I must say, however, that if I had any control on this forum that I would recognize the positive and police the joint better than what I've seen here.
Ditto and it is like preaching to the choir as the powers that be have no ambition to listen to the contributing posters, as they simply do not care, or they would MODERATE accordingly.

I will not pay attention to any thread/post that says "USC -17, just do it" or something along those lines.
Now my writeups tend to be long winded, I get that, but if a poster makes a thread, say "Ga. Tech -6.5" and follows up with just a paragraph or two of sound reasoning as to why Ga. Tech -6.5 is worthy of a play, then I will look at it, think about it, and make a decision as to whether or not I should investigage further.
Point being, like Big Daddy says, post your play, tell us a little something as to why you like that particular play, that's all most of us want.
Don't give us Lock of the Century, we've seen it all, quickest way to get dogpiled on is Lock of the Century claims.
I agree gentlemen... There is a wealth of knowledge and inside info here ..(for free) to those who have the intelligence and maturity to understand!! I think the majority of us here understand this... and if we just ignore the stupidity ,,, maybe it will die out!!

This guy (Isiah, 152 or so posts) does not even know that A&M no longer plays Texas in the regular season, yet he goes running his mouth off. It is people like this that belong in a special section so they can run their mouths off to others who also have no knowledge of College Football.

Coming out of my 8 months or so hiatus with the start of NCAAF on the horizon.
Firstly, it's important to acknowledge that the SBR forums reside in a very interesting balance of two worlds. For those that have ever gone to a Vegas sportsbook and watched a game, you invariably end up in one discussion or another (or a few) about various games occurring or upcoming. In this setting I've never heard anyone claim "Alabama -20, lock of the century, fukkin' take it!!". SBR exists, of course, on the internet; where ignorance, hate and apathy fester and thrive. This balance is where the issue of a forum's health and viability are threatened. As the thinking/conversing side of this balance, the real threat to ourselves comes from ourselves. With an ignore function (thank you Huckleberry and Vegas39, I never knew that existed) and a good community-base, the threads/posts about "Alabama -20, LoTC!" aren't even the issue, but that individually we fall to attrition and apathy. That is to say, we neglect the support for one-another shown at the beginning of the season, while trolls and typical internet-fodder only becomes emboldened by incorrect plays and assertions.
Returning to the previous Vegas Sportsbook example: I might bounce statistics or theories off someone sitting next to me in person, not because I care how he bets or that I want to make him money, but because I enjoy talking about the game and thinking football. In this case the benefit is being encapsulated in the thoughts and experiences I enjoy at the cost of opening myself for derision or disagreement. In person, this risk is heavily taxed by norms and societal standards with which we are socialized to adhere. On the internet, social norms and societal standards are the exception, not the rule. The thinking community then must come together to bolster one another's skills or we individually fall to trolls and nay-sayers.
Four or five years ago (under a different account) I was enthralled at the MLB forum on SBR. There were terrific theories and cappers sharing information publicly in an attempt to boost one another. Around the same time, Covers.com had terrific discussions being bandied back and forth and had a very healthy equivalent to the "Handicapper Think Tank". Then, the internet happened. I still cap MLB religiously, but I'd never post on SBR's MLB forums. I'd receive no benefit from posting v. not-posting and by posting I open myself for post hoc ignorance ("you jinxed them!") or hindsight air-bettors.
TL;DR Version: An internet forum for people to bolster skills and openly communicate is only as healthy as its core base allows it to be. By assisting eachother's research or bouncing ideas back and forth, the community opens itself for derision by "trolls" and general ignorance. It's health and well-being can only be promoted by the activity and advances of those actively seeking its central philosophy and supporting those with common purpose. The resources garnered from such a forum must then outweigh the potential for negativity from a user's participation, otherwise the forum will fall to only the most-altruistic and the most-insane.

You obviously have superior football knowledge than the rest of us squares so PLEASE share with us the workings of the coming conspiracy by Texas A&M football players to have their star quarterback injured. Exactly how is this devious plan going to unfold? Are the coaches in on the plot? Will it be early in the season or will they wait until their Bowl game?

Isaiah. You were the person who did not even bother to look at the schedule before you ran your mouth off. What I post in other forums has nothing to do with College Football. The fact of the matter is that you were so ignorant and lazy that you did NOT even bother to look up the schedule to see who plays who. That is the type of poster we are trying to eliminate in here. As far as A&M goes, the A&M Offensive Line has just about had it with their hot shot cocky QB and all of his B.S. He has stated many times that he does not want to play for A&M, and can hardly wait to get out of there. He was turned down by Texas, but obviously still wants to go there. After A&M's first loss (to Alabama), watch and see what happens to this glory boy. Now since you openly admit that you do not follow these two teams, just who DO you follow? How can you claim to be a College Football fan and not follow two of the preseason Top 10 teams in the Nation.

In one respect possibly us regular posters should keep a thread open of some type for a "gloves are off" type of thread for anyone who wants to antagonize, criticize, or make stupid ass comments. It would be up to us regular posters then to moderate all the threads, and when the foolishness starts to be posted, direct the persons in question to take it to the "Gloves R Off" thread, so the initial threads do not get cluttered. Just a spur of the moment thought by me.
A scan of your posting history exposes you as an arrogant, insecure and argumentative prick
who is quick to hurl insults and name calling of those you disagree with, or worse, have the

Please, and I am speaking for the majority of the posters on the forum, take your beefs with other posters to the personal messages, as we want to do our best to maintain a forum that is respectable, informative, and free of the personal attacks and antagonistic posts, and this is what you are posting. Your kindness in doing so would be very appreciated by all of us, who are doing our best to provide valuable insight for others in making there choices to play a particular game or not.

This is the 2nd confrontation in the past couple of days you have had with other members, and there is no reason for it. We all appreciate your contributions, but again for the best interest of the forum, take your personal wars, disagreements, whatever you want to call it to the private message system, and help keep harmony on the threads, as it will be very appreciated by all, and it will make the forum that much more successful. No one wants to see valuable postings get lost among personal bullshit, and no one wants to see valuable posters quit posting because of it, which is what I did the past couple of years, as the antagonists, childish behavior and such, made 8 to 10 of us quit posting actual information on the forum, and we ended up sharing our information only through the personal message system, leaving many good posters in the dark, who might have benefited by our insights and efforts in breaking down games.
