    Any Angles/Stats on New Coaches?

There are 31 new coaches entering the 2013 season. I was wondering if any of you guys had any information on how a first year coach at a school have fared the past few years...especially against the spread. Many of the coaches are first time head coaches. A few like (P.J. Gleck, Western Michigan) and (Sean Kugler, UTEP) have never even been a coordinator.

Arkansas, Arkansas State, Auburn, Boston College, California, Cincinnati, Colorado, FIU, Georgia State, Idaho, Kent State, Kentucky, Louisiana Tech, NC State, Nevada, New Mexico State, Northern Illinois, Oregon, Purdue, San Jose State, Southern Miss, Syracuse, Tennessee, Temple, Texas Tech, South Florida, UTEP, Utah State, Western Kentucky, Western Michigan, Wisconsin.

Welcome any information on these first year coaches................

FYI, using rushing data, New coaches who are predicted to lose the rush battle (formula driven) are 41% over a 22 year period (46% the past 5 years). Rush driven value works only after each team has played at least four games. NOTE: When two teams with new coaches square off against each other then the game is a PASS! Given the record # of new coaches in '13 the sample size will be reduced a few times during the season.

New coaches who are road favorites also are about 42.5% but have fared about 50% the past two seasons.

    Thanks Tim for sharing.....

I took a look at last year's new coaches and how they did record wise and against the spread. There were 28 new coaches at the beginning of the 2012 season. They combined for a 53-89 (37%) win/loss record.. On the flip side, they posted a 78-58 against the spread record (57%) which was a bit of a surprise to me. They ranged from Fresno State's Tim DeRuyter going 11-1 ATS (9-4 SU) to Southern Miss' Ellis Johnson going 3-9 ATS (0-12 SU).

2012 schools with new coaches: Akron, Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Arkansas St., Colorado St., FAU, Fresno St., Hawaii, Houston, Illinois, Kansas, UMass, Memphis, Ole Miss, New Mexico, Norht Carolina, Ohio State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, So Miss, Texas A&M, Toledo, Tulane, UAB, UCLA, Washington St.
