    Miami, Ole Miss and Washington

I got locked in already this week. Miami -2.5, Ole Miss -3 and Washington +7.

Miami and Ole Miss are in the same boat. Have been very impressive on both sides of the ball (though Ole Miss hasn't played anyone yet), and on the road against teams that are offensively challenged but feature good defenses. I like these 2 top 10 teams chances of getting a road win here.

I know, Washington probably overachieved with their victory over SC. Or maybe SC isn't that good. Whatever, point is, 7 points is too much for the Huskies against Stanford. Stanford is decent, but after watching them completely disappear against Wake in the 2nd half, they shouldn't be laying 7 to a Sarkisian-Holt coached team. Washington has talent as evidenced in their game vs LSU, and could win this game outright. It will be a close game, gimme 7 points towards the door.

    Me likey

Washington is obviously playing good ball and Stanford is not a team to run away from anyone (other than San Jose State maybe). Jake Locker will will Huskies to a win. Va Tech reminds me a little of USC in that they always have a let down along the way to a good year. I think I will ride in your wake on these. I will also be looking for an over no matter what in Houston Texas Tech.

Any chance Washington believes the headlines and thinks they can just show up at Stanford and win, thus leading to a reality check.

Why +7 after beating the perceived best team in the conference. You would think the line would open lower based on the elevated public opinion of Washington. After seeing them upset USC, how many people are going to jump on the points here.

Washington just beat USC. NO WAY they lose to Stanford!

Thanks for starting this discussion. I had no idea I was leaning toward Stanford.

Stanford is a good team. I really like their QB and WRs, they have some great talent. I just think 7 is too much in what should be a good game.

I woulda set the line to Stanford -3.5 or -4.

I agree that it seems like too many points. That is why I am weary. If anything, the win vs. USC would give more cred to WAS, with the line opening as you have it. The Huskies have been forced onto the radar screen via a much publicized upset of the mighty USC. The ticker on ESPN ran this news over and over all night Saturday. Now when Joe Public logs in to BoDog or Sportsbook.com and scrolls through the lines, many of them would have chose WAS as a smaller dog or even a pick. At +7, with that win vs USC fresh on their minds the wheels of deep thought start moving, and they begin the hungover game of Roshambo.

"Washington beat USC. USC is better than Stanford. Washington beats Stanford. And I get 7 to boot!" They are all taking Washington here.

Your capping finds value in the Washington side. My gut smells a rat here.

not gonna lie, if you polled 100 people who watch college football and asked them to identify 3 plays they'd make this week, i have no doubt the 3 i listed would each be in the top 5 results. these are all very square plays. but you know what? i truly think there is value in these plays. ole miss SHOULD beat socar, miami SHOULD beat vt, and washington should hang with stanford.

    stats.

Capping is all about finding value, and being disciplined in following your work. I have done zero homework this week, and could not tell you if there is value in any line.I appreciate the hard work that goes into forming your own line for a game, I've tried it, and always revert to letting my feelings guide me. I am not a good gambler.

Of the three games you mentioned, this one stuck out as being fishy. I always enjoy discussing different sides of a subject. Often, hearing another persons opinion, whether you agree with it or not, leads to a clearer picture. Sometimes you change your mind, and sometimes it reinforces your beliefs.

For the record, of Ole Miss,Miami, and Washington, the Ole Miss game scares me the least. They have been off the radar so far this season, and SC had a good showing against Georgia in a prime time ESPN game.

I look forward to reading more from you. Good luck this season.

Ole Miss at South Carolina will be a very tough game for Ole Miss. It's REALLY hard to go on the road in the SEC to win. Also South Carolina defense matchup perfect with Ole Miss. I'll say it first here. If I have a defense at home that matches up well with a team on offense. Then I'll take the home dog. I really do think Ole Miss can be a square play and this is coming from a SEC homer. South Carolina is value at home.

Ole Miss is my favorite line this week, even if South Carolinas defense holds Ole Miss down I'm not a big fan of SCs offensive ability and think Ole Miss can cover the spread in a low scoring affair. That Miami Virginia Tech is an interesting one. I usually like Virginia Tech at Lane Stadium against almost any opponent, except not this opponent. Miami has looked like one of the best teams in college football with some highly impressive wins against good competition in the early going, while Virginia Tech's offensive performances have been less than impressive. Jacory Harris for Heisman!
