Coming off losses to Va Tech and Maryland, look for Clemson to get back on track today with a blowout over NC State.

Off back-to-back straight up losses to Virginia Tech and Maryland, the Clemson faithful are getting a little restless and they would like a blowout. Well Tiger Paw fans, it looks like your wish will be granted.

Don't try and tell this writer that Tommy Bowden's troops are in a funk. The problem at hand is that Clemson's vicious schedule is starting to take its toll. In case you haven’t noticed, the Tigers have lined up against five teams that are currently ranked in the Top 25. Clemson is the only school in the nation that has accomplished this feat.

Because "Clemmie" enters this ACC battle off a pair of point-spread losses, the Tigers are locked into a tremendous late-season system. Technically speaking, game nine or later home favorites of -14 or more are a reliable 80-59 ATS provided they failed to cover in their last two games. If our hosts enter the contest off a straight up loss as a favorite, this system skyrockets to an explosive 30-16 ATS! Clemson fits this system perfectly.

NC State has played competitive football lately. But the bottom line is the Wolfpack are just 2-6 SU and ATS in their last eight games. This isn't the greatest spot for Chuck Amato’s troops either. When matched up against a foe that enters off back-to-back straight up losses, the Wolfpack have fallen hard posting a dismal 17-36-1 ATS record including a nasty 4-16 ATS in this set since 1998.

In the friendly confines of Clemson Memorial Stadium, the Tigers have cashed 16 of their last 23 versus losing teams. Any way you look at it, NC State fits the bill as a sub .500 team. The Tigers are hungry and they’re about to go on the prowl.
