Brian Kelly has them back a long way but if they have to play against Alabama for the title they lose 21-3 at best.
Lets face it...bama losing to a&m was a product of the best individual performance of the year and they still almost won. No one is in their class.

Moot point as I'd bet my betpoints on the Irish ML vs Bama. Nobody gives them a prayer but it's not that lopsided. Defense wins championships.

ND is a better football team than Oregon. Hell, Stanford turned the ball all over the field last night, and still beat Oregon. They didn't do that against ND.
That being said, no one was suggesting Oregon should sit the title game out.
I don't understand why it is so hard for teams to just admit ND is a good football team. Do they have flaws? Absolutely.
But so does every team. LSU ---which beat Auburn 12-10, and needed a some serious help to beat Ole Miss---- had 'Bama on the ropes with a very average offense.
Bama will smash ND right in the mouth. ND is very fortunate to be undefeated still. Would never happen if they played Bama's schedule. ND would have several losses in the SEC.

ND's offense is too weak to go up against a strong defense like bama's. ND is not back, this is a 7-4 team that kissed every horseshoe and leprechaun they could find to squeak by some sorry teams.
They are back in a sense. For ND standard they have been gone for a long time. No doubt they are back. Top recruits will begin going there again. Especially if Kelly can get the academic restraints loosened up a little
Let's not get ahead of ourselves boys. Even if Barkely is out next week.............ND has their hands full.

Notre Dame doesnt play in a conference, they make up a schedule way in advance and play the best teams they can at the time. The Irish will win it all the defense is top notch, great run game and Golsen will step it up in championship. Bama is weak. Qb is garbage and they been exposed by lsu and tex am at home. They shouldn't even make the title game and won't because Georgia will whoop that ass.

Alabama gets to much credit for really doing nothing. All year they have put up big scores against mediocre teams, if Texas a&m can beat them, then Notre Dame has a pretty good chance too.
