Can someone explain why he called his one timeout right after the 3rd down run in OT, and didn't save it to ice the kicker, or at least have it in the kicker's mind he might call TO?

He shouldn't have called a timeout at all. Stanford would have had to rush out on the field in order to kick and too many things can go wrong when that happens. I don't know why coaches call timeout at all in that spot. Force them to line up on time and kick. Idiots.

Grasping at what? I'm trying to figure out why he called TO there? Maybe he's got a FG block play?
I've never seen a TO called in that spot way before the FG unit even came on the field.
