Why the SEC is so over rated ….

    This weeks match-ups:

    # 4 Alabama home vs Western Carolina
#5 Georgia home vs Georgia Southern
    # 6 Florida home vs Jacksonville State
#8 Texas A&M home vs Sam Houston State
#9 South Carolina home vs Wofford

5 guaranteed wins to thump your chest that "were the best confrence in football"

    Questions?
How is LSU even ranked? They’veplayed 5 quality opponents and lost 2?
Why is Alabama ranked so high? Has 4 quality games on its schedule and lost 1 of those
Why is the SEC so coveted when only 7 of the 14 teams have winning records? Please don’t use “strength of schedule”BS because every SEC team has 3 built in cupcake teams on their schedule, which means you only have to win 4 out of 9 teams to finish with winning record
I'm at a loss for why the SEC can sget o much respect with so little to back it up

I would semi agree with you, until you actually look into who they play.
I dont see them as being any better then the PAC 12

I do think the media plays into the whole SEC is great metality but aside from the top 4 or 5 teams they're no better then mediocre across the board

They certainly hold more then they deserve
How many great teams were shut out of the BCS game because of "strength of schedule" or not being affiated with a BCS conference?? When the fact is the SEC plays many many poor quality teams

Over the past several years many teams have been screwed by the BCS format, luckily thats coming to an end, and the decade of SEC dominace will be long gone

maybe has something to do with their champion winning the title every year. If their not the best conference, who is?

They generally have faired very well in BCS games over the years, They tend to fair very well in championships. I dont know who else you could argue is the better conference or is as deep as the SEC. Especially in todays climate.

But hasnt the cupcake schedule argument been used before. All teams have cupcakes on their schedule.

Notre Dame has Boston College, Wake Forest, anyone from the big 10, Pittsburgh
K State- Mizzou State, N texas
Oregon- Tenn tech, Colorado (i know in conference but wow awful)

OK so BC is comperable to....Woffold?
The big 10, although not as strong this year is not a confrence full of cupcakes

Oregon palys- USC, Stanford and Oregon state which account for at least 3 quality opponents

all under the current BCS guidelines.
Dont you find it interesting that for the previous 30-40 years the SEC was a non-factor and now in the last 10 they're the Jr. NFL.... think there may be some hype behind that?

one problem is when SEC fans start comparing Boston College and Wake Forest to Western Carolina and Georgia Southern. there are cupcakes and then cupcakes you could leave your starters out and still win big.

Just because they send a lot of players does not make them junior NFL. And you do understand of 30-40 years things change. In another 30-40 years there will probably be some other dominant force in college football or maybe it will all be played by robots.

Perhaps. ND, USC and UCLA are the only three teams in the US that have not scheduled games against Division II opponents, ever. The Dawgs know they are going to beat Georgia Southern, like to think they beat Appalachian State next year, as well as North Texas. Their cupcake games are not ACC games, yes I see they play Clemson next year.

Here is ND schedule for 2016:
    9/3 -@ Texas
9/10 – Syracuse at The Meadowlands
    9/17 – Michigan
    9/24 – Stanford
    10/1 – @ Michigan State
    10/8 – Purdue
    10/15 – Miami (FL)
    10/22 – @ Navy
    10/29 – Pitt
    11/5 – Boston College
    11/12 – UConn
    11/26 – @ USC

Point being, it is scheduled well in advance, and hard to say if these are cupcakes or not. They might prove to be, but all in all a fairly quality schedule. But there are none of the opponents listed in post 1 nor are they of that expected level of opposition.

they probably wouldnt be 8-1 in BCS title games if they weren't deserving

    dumbass

and the first part of your OP makes zero sense....who doesnt play shit teams? its called a fukkin payday...they pay these teams to come in and be sacrificial lambs for 800k to 1mm....the money is that big to host a home game against even the shitbags....it has absolutely nothing to do with how good or bad the host team is though

Notre Dame doesnt have a single team as weak as the 3 teams LSU, Alabama, Florida, etc set up.
Yeah lets load the top 10 with teams who lose 1 out of every 3 quality games ... makes perfect sense to me

DUMBASS <---- Look close enough and you'll find Sabians head in there !!

And i think season in and season out, notre dame, Oregon, USC would beat its share of SEC teams ... the conference is over rated

it was kinda comical watching the vaunted alabama defense try and defend a real diverse offense, not one of the 3 yards and a cloud of dust sec type ones.

Texas AM had a great game this weekend. They started out hot and and held on at the end. Tip your hat to them. As far as Bama defense being done, or whatever. You guys do realize it was simply one game. These things happen, good offense gets hot and carries team to victory. AM did lose adn get slowed by LSU and Florida so its not like there world beaters just yet. They did catch Bama in a good spot and did what they had to do though.

Im not here to argue who is bad of the rest but can you guys really sit there and say the SEC is not the best conference overall?
