Well Thursday Game Notes but you get the point.
Arkansas State - Malzahn comes to Arkansas State after serving as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Auburn for the past three seasons. A native of Fort Smith, Malzahn was named the winner of the 2010 Frank Broyles Award, given annually to the nation's top collegiate assistant coach. First-year Arkansas State Head Football Coach Gus Malzahn was recognized as one of the top hires in the nation this offseason, named as the No. 4 best hire and No. 2 most intriguing hire in the nation by CBSSports.com. He was also one of two head coaches in the nation to receive a grade of A+ among new hires for the 2012 season by the Sporting News. Bleacher Report's "Over/Under Victories" for every new head coach places A-State at nine victories, one of the tops listed in the reports. Arkansas State comes into this ball game with best QB Ryan Aplin. I'm taking Arkansas State not just because they were 6-0 last year at home but also because they return an experienced QB that's pretty damn good. Doesn't hurt to have an offensive coach that was in a system that coach Cam Newton. Note: T.Y Hilton now with the NFL Colts was a huge part of Florida Internationals success and they have struggled with him gone. FIU has struggled to find an identity. They have used two different QB's already this year. They have lost 4 games this season. One coming last week in a blowout. You have to wonder what kind of mindset this team is in. Arkansas State owns this series.

UCF - UCF's rushing attack proved to be very dynamic in 2010-11, highlighted by Jeff Godfrey rushing for 19 touchdowns as the quarterback those two seasons. But Godfrey has now been moved to WR and the new QB Blake Bortles is in charge. Bortles was very impressive in the loss against Missouri.UCF out gained Missouri in that contest 395-342. They had the lead 10-7 at half but couldn't keep the lead even though they held Missouri to 1-11 on 3rd down conversations. This team was tied with Ohio State this year 10-10 at half. It also doesn't hurt that East Carolina lost 94% of there passing offense after the QB graduated this past year. I honestly believe that UCF will win this game but laying 12-14.5 pts is just to much in this contest. Hence my teaser -1.5 pt. These teams straight up hate each other.
East Carolina's season has been up and down, alternating wins and losses since winning its opener against Appalachian State, 35-13 (Appalachian State out gained East Carolina in this game). However, the Pirates have won where it matters most -- in conference play, defeating Southern Miss on the road (24-14) and UTEP at home (28-18). They will have their hands full playing in Orlando however, as they've lost four of their last five road games dating back to last season.
East Carolina: 1-5 ATS off a conference home win
Central Florida: 25-10 ATS off ATS losses in 2 of their last 3 games

USC - Domination over UTAH. Utah just barely beat a BYU team that's very one dimensional.
USC: 8-1 ATS off a conference game
Utah: 21-8 Over off a conference loss

302. St. Louis (Rams) +13 -110 ( +12 Pts )
304. Central Florida -1½ -110 ( +12 Pts )
305. USC -1½ -110 ( +12 Pts )
307. Arkansas State +12 -110 ( +12 Pts )
You may scratch your head at this bet BUT.........i'm not laying 2 touchdowns in what could be a shootout in Central Florida. But I am confident in these teams covering the spread in a SU win. GL
