I had a strong lean on Rutgers at +7, but as this line dips, I think it's harder and harder to play it. In a game like this, you can't underestimate QB play, and that is 100% in favor of Pitt. Still, Rutgers is pretty road tested - wins at USF and Navy look pretty impressive - and I believe they have a small coaching advantage here. Pitt has only really played one good team, and was dominated at home by MSU.
The guess here is Pitt gets the win but not the money, as Palko is the difference in a very close game.

Been waiting for your post r2d2. Wondering if you were still all over Pitt. Hoping the line moves down. You already hit it?

I am going to Hit PITT for sure. 3 Units. Probably not until Saturday morning though. I think this line settles around -6, as a fair amount of money is coming in on the rutgers side. And who can blame them right? Rutgers is #19 in the country right?

Yeah, OK, but in my opinion, except for the beat down they put on Navy last week and South Florida game the week before, they are still a little untested in my opinion. Here is their schedule so far...

    09/02 at UNC W 21-16
    09/09 Illinois W 33-0
    09/16 Ohio W 24-7
    09/23 Howard W 56-7
    09/29 at S Florida W 22-20
    10/14 at Navy W 34-0

You toss out Howard, an awful UNC team, and a "at the time" awful Illini team, who have they played? Navy, minus Navy's starting QB who is injured in the first half. Ohio, pretty good ball team, but, it is still just Ohio. South Florida in my opinion on the road, is their best win to date.

Now, let's look at PITT and be fair, so no one thinks I am a homer here.

    09/02 Virginia W 38-13
    09/08 at Cincy W 33-15
    09/16 Mich St L 38-23
    09/23 The Citadel W 51-6
    09/30 Toledo W 45-3
    10/07 at Syracuse W 21-11
    10/13 at C Florida W 52-7

OK, sure they have not played some good opponents either. The Citadel should not count. Virginia sucks.Yeah, yeah, last weeks win was agaisnt a terrible UCF squad. And the loss to the as we are finding out weekly "Not so good mich state team" .BUT, they beat in my opinion a good cincinnati team that is better than their record indicates. Syracuse, although not great, has stepped it up a little in the last few weeks, was a conference game, and a rival. Their offense though right now is just plain clicking. The QB Palko is a STUD. Man amongst boys in my opinion. Look at his numbers this year: Attempts 161 completions 114 yards 1661 TD's 17 . Thats a 71% completion rate for those without a calculator. He wins this game for them along with the running attack.

THROW ALL THE OTHER JUNK OUT THE WINDOW. HERE ARE THE NON STAT REASONS WHY I THINK PITT WINS BY 10 THIS WEEK.

    1)They are at Home
    2) Conference game, they are undefeated in conference so far, and they know Louisville is going to give them all they can handle, so they gotta win the Big East and go undefeated in conference if they got a shot at any decent bowl games.
3)This is their biggest test so far, and they are looking to put their name on the national map this week by knocking off a top 25 team. They are fully aware that they are the leading vote getters in the two polls. They got 73 votes in the AP poll, and 105 votes in the USA Today poll. They are itching to crack into the TOP 25 and make their mark.
    4)Palko

    I'm on Pitt as well.
Rutgers currently leads the nation in fewest points allowed per game at 8.3 Does anybody think this is going to last? This team has allowed average of 28+ points per game over past 3 seasons. They will fall significantly in this category over their remaining games. I see Pitt scoring a bunch and covering the 6.5 here.

That win against Navy last week is misleading. I heard the QB for Navy went down in the 1Q. I am on Pitt this week but waiting for a better line.

    darkghost,

I watched most of that game...I'm not sure that the game or the score were misleading at all...Navy's a good team, Rutgers is a great team...

GREAT ARTICLE ON ESPN.COM ABOUT THE PITT/RUTGERS

It is right now. Pitt (6-1 overall, 2-0 Big East) is off to its best start since Dan Marino's senior year in 1982. It leads the all-time series against Rutgers 19-4 and almost assuredly would crack the Top 25 with a victory.

No. 19 Rutgers (6-0, 1-0) moved up five spots in the AP poll this week, checked in at No. 16 in the BCS Standings, and is off to its best start since 1976. It boasts the nation's top-ranked scoring defense (8.3 points per game) and second-ranked overall defense (221.3 yards).

Rutgers tailback Ray Rice will be clashing with Blades plenty on Saturday -- Rice is fourth in the country in rushing (149.8 yards per game) and Blades is sixth in tackles (11.1 per game) -- but the two are in sync on the subject of the game's importance.

"It'd be a steppingstone for either program, whichever comes out the winner," Rice said. "[The Panthers are] obviously way better than they were last year."

Ah yes, last year. Before we move on, it might be instructional to reflect on last year's game. Blades certainly has. He wore a Rutgers T-shirt every day during winter conditioning, bent on searing the memory of a 37-29 loss into his psyche. NOW THAT IS THE ESSENCE OF FOOTBALL RIGHT THERE!!!

Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt didn't mind Blades' gesture.

"Them beating us bothered at least one guy," Wannstedt said, half-jokingly. "I'd like to see 85 (players) with Rutgers shirts on, but, really, that's a positive in that it meant something to him."

Rice is well aware of Blades' role as the emotional epicenter of a Pitt defense that has allowed just 13.3 points per game, 11th-best in the country.

"That's his team," Rice said. "He controls them. They feed off his enthusiasm. You got to give him that."

SOUNDS LIKE BLADES IS READY FOR THE GAME!!!

I'm on RU Pitt may win but I think I will a late FG not by the 6.5-7 line. I would not shocked with an RU win

Got to ride Rutgers until they let you down at this rate, they're getting points to boot. Also take: Wisconsin -6.5
    Texas -6.5
    Temple +33.5

I have to go with Rutgers. On pure Sagarin Power rankings, they are 3 points BETTER than Pitt. The right line should be Pick'em.
