This LSU team is one of the best football teams ever

This is coming from a diehard UGA fan.

This LSU is one of the best college football teams I've ever seen. Look at their body of work. Congrats LSU. LSU will wipe the map with Alabama again in a few months.

There's the 2001 Miami team and then there's everyone else....maybe 95 Nebraska team is close.

Seems to me they're a better team with Lee at QB but what the hell do I know.

My father tells me the best team ever was the 1971 Nebraska team.
He says Johnny Rodgers was the greatest college offensive player that ever played.

    I agree. They are.

Funny thing, tho. They are very beatable, especially if they say had a four week stretch where they had to play Stanford, Oregon and USC let's say.

But they will probably lose to Alabama and they are a lot better than Bama.

typical over-reaction by sbr forum mofos.

being a bama fan you should remember the only reason why bama lost that game is because their kicker sucks.

    i would take bama's d over lsu's.
    will take saban over miles.

going to be a great match up in the championship game, i think bama prevails. and then people can create threads about their team and defense being the best ever.

lol, they would have a much easier time surviving that than those teams would doing the same. Hell, Oregon has already been beaten by USC and LSU.

USC 2004....team that stomped the shitt out of Oklahoma would beat this LSU team. USC offense was lightyears ahead of these SEC offenses LSU faces. They were equally skilled passing & running. Also, lights out on defense.

LSU is very good, but let's not get carried away.

Obviously. I don't think Oregon, Stanford or SC are in the running for best teams ever, but what is most difficult in college football is back to back tough games or a string of tough games...

This LSU defense is really good. There ability to play man, the way they blitz and overall speed is ridiculous. I've laughed how they have gotten away with being out of position so much this year. They have been able to get away with because

    A. they are that good.
    B. Other teams O's are fearful to the point of paralysis.
    C. They are generally SEC offenses they play against.

Run up a bunch of good O's, and the ball doesn't bounce your way and you are in trouble.

Oh well, I see it all too often on this site, a 3 point victory is demolishing a team nowadays. No wonderrrr these fools have a hard time picking winners.

LSU is very good, but let's not get carried away.
2004 USC offense avg about 38 points a game; their Def gave up about 10 points a game.. Same stats as LSU; and LSU has beaten their entire schedule by double figures except one.

Just because one team looks better getting to a 40 point total; doesn't mean they are better "by lightyears".. both just do it a different way. Last time I checked, you didn't get extra credit for scoring a TD "pretty"..

But; this argument could never be settled; but I do believe this team is very good...

And saying any team could or couldn't beat another team in a different time period doesn't make remote sense.. Only way to know the answer is for those teams to play. So unless you can get the 2004 USC team together, it's an invalid point..

That said; LSU hasn't won the title for 2011 yet... so we'll see.

Jesse Palmer said last night that people will argue 2001 Miami and 2004 USC but those teams didn't play near the schedule that this LSU team has. I tend to agree with him. There will probably be more NFL players off of this LSU team than either of them. This team goes 3 deep and many of them are underclassmen.

The 2004 USC team was much better than this year's LSU team. There is really no comparison. Obviously a lot of you guys were not around back then to see what USC did to OU. The 2001 Miami team was also much better than this LSU team. So were a couple of Nebraska teams, especially the 71 team. So was the 1972 USC team. Unless you have seen them all play, you really cannot say, and I have seen every NC team since the 60's play. It is really hard to argue, but this LSU team, while very good, is not a Top 5 team of all time, and probably not a Top 10 team of all time.

One last thing... for all the arguments people make against them; IF LSU wins the title; they would have beaten 9 ranked teams...

Only twice has a Nat Champion beat 7 ranked teams... so, that carries alot of merit. But again; there is no way to settle this argument, but that is damn impressive..

No way does this LSU team rank up there with some of the dominant Nebraska, Florida State or Alabama teams we've seen over the past 15 years, to say nothing of the great teams from before then. They couldn't even get a single first down in 30 minutes of play against a mediocre UGA, not to mention the refs gave them a free TD.

Yea, I looked at pinnacle but looks like you can get alabama +1 at a some places right now as well...

Doesn't really change my point that seems silly to debate if they are the best team ever when it is questionable if they are even the best team this year...
