BIG 10 can't even sell out it's Championship game tix????

Pathetic.....been hearing all day about Twitter and other outlets saying Indy has hired a company to pay people $75 to be 'seat fillers' for the game since they couldn't sell all the tickets and this looks bad on the inaugural championship game.

I've read a few links about the Craigslist ads and others where the people responded and were offered the spots....thought it was a joke at first but seems credible.....anyone else got an angle on this story? If it does hold up....you Big Ten fans should be ashamed of yourselves!

Oh my GOD! It is real...I just checked my StubHub account....$12 tickets available...close to 4,500 left. You can get first level tix on the 25 for $108 Absolutely pathetic!

I paid $1600 for SEC tix in Atlanta 2 years ago and that was a bargain.....on the 30!

Big 10 has lost all respect.....Wisky or Sparty....can't fill the Indy Dome???

went to first Big XII championship in St Louis (Horns beat Nebraska as 21 pt underdogs - with James Brown !) and same deal...tons of tickets were given away....
went to another one in Houston when OU whipped up on Colorado (not as bad as Texas beat CU 70-3 in worst conf game ever) and same deal...tons of tickets given away for free...
if you are on a budget would you rather go to this game or your bowl game?

Wow. I might have to roll over to Indy and offer a scalper half a joint for a couple of tickets.

Pac-12 did it correctly. Put it in one of the teams home stadium. Game will most likely sell out with ease.

Why would they have to pay people to be seat fillers? They can't give the tix away?

I don't think so...each time we've bought they are either mailed or if it's too close to gameday you can meet the sellers close to the stadium....but pretty sure you need the physical tix not like an airline eticket or the baseball games.

That was my thought too but I guess they were thinking of the easiest way to actually get them handed out instead of a mass will call announcement. Stupid event planning I guess.

only if they have a check in "electronic delivery" which they don't for the big 10 championship.

i am pretty sure you can print tickets off from stuhub, i did that for a third party site for the mlb.

i wish i could go to this, but it is a far drive away. don't know why they are having trouble selling it out, wisconsin has a huge fan base. guess it just shows hard bad the economy has hit places like Wisconsin and Michigan.

This would have made sense. However I feel like perhaps not putting in a city that was thoroughly disgusted with football this year would have been almost as good.

pac 12 championship probably wont sell out because its during a work day during work hours. A friday game with a 4 o clock start time wasnt a good idea.

Seems like a lot of Michigan fans are hung up on which fanbase is bigger/better/more loyal these days -- guess that makes sense, since they have no argument for what's happened on the field vs. MSU in recent years.

I'll be there Saturday after 2pm or so.

Might just end up tailgaiting, depends on what kind of tickets we can get and what kind of tailgaiting this place has.

If it's anything like Iowa City, we'll buy $50 tickets and then get fuked up on shrooms and forget to go to the game.

Had 2 friends text me saying they are in for a road trip. Unhappy. I guess now I'll just have to get to the bar at 11am and sit there all day and leave with a 7 dollar tab and leave a 30 dollar tip.

How much of a hoax? I don't want to drive 5 hrs and have some asshole tell me he wants $100 for a ticket. I was planning on trading a dime bag and a half a pack of smokes for a ticket.

I live in Indy...I think Lucas holds 70k which isn't that much for 2 big schools. Wisconsin will bring atleast half I would think with their following. Thousands and thousands of Badgers made it to California last year for a non-National championship so they can make it to Indiana.

On a somewhat related note....my friend rented out her townhouse for $2500 for 4 days for SB weekend. She's going to be out of town anyway....not a bad deal! Anyway need a room for SB weekend 20 minutes from downtown....I might hook you up!

And with all of the above excuses, you guys have the gumption to question the SEC's superiority. Try finding cheap tickets to Atlanta tomorrow, even though the "real" championship is a month away.
