Where would you rank Iowa State's win on an all-time CFB upset list?

I'm trying to think of a few that were bigger.

    I'd go:

    1) Stanford over USC (I think USC was favored by at least 40; it was Harbaugh's first season I believe)
    2) Iowa State over Oklahoma State
    3) App. State over Michigan
    4) Michigan State over Ohio State ('98 I think when OSU was No. 1 and MSU was around .500)

    Others?

Not sure where it would belong on the list but Sacramento State against Oregon State early this year was pretty unlikely upset...

Michigan State over Ohio State in 1998(?)

IIRC Ohio State were 28.5 point favourites. Similar to last night the underdog came back from two touchdowns behind.

I remember a few odd ones----Cincinnati beating Wisconsin with Ron Dayne back in 1999.

And you have to add Louisianna-Monroe beating Nick Saban coached-Alabama a few years ago----@ Alabama.

    Oregon St over wash '85
    Temple over VaTech '98

Both were about +36 to +38

Carnegie Tech over ND 1926 . Knute Rockne didn't attend. Instead, taking Tech so lightly, he went to the Army game to scout their next opponent

I was at this game. I've still got the emotional scars to prove it. As a gambler I sat there thinking........41 point dogs don't beat national powers.......totally surreal.

Have you seen anything out of OSU Beavers that would dictate that this was still an upset? Sac St would beat them again if they played next Saturday. OSU is putrid this year.

If Mike Gundy has been killed in a plane crash they would have cancelled the women's basketball game. All those coaches are close knit except at UConn(Geno and Calhoun). OSU probably should not have been playing any football last night.

There are just upsets, then there's upsets like this where the Nat Title is choked away

Ok State's choke is 2nd behind

2007 #2 WVU (-28.5) losing at home 13-9 to 4-7 PITT in the last week of the season with a 1 win and in to the Nat title

Ok State probably 4/5 all time upsets

I think the week it happens has to be taken into consideration.

That's why App. State isn't a clear-cut No. 1 for me; Michigan was good that year, but overrated. I think App. State won the national title too.

I'm not saying the Texas Tech upset wasn't huge, but given how late in the season it was and the implications both team (national title) and individual (Weeden), yeah, I'd rank it right up there.

All the others were bigger upsets. OK State overrated, 27 pt spread was ridiculous in this situation.
Who had OK State beat this yr?
OK State has a very, very poor defensive club.
They are an artificial turf speed team, played on thick grass; HUGE factor. Timing way off on throws, cuts, blocking schemes.
I think this was one of the few games on natural turf this yr for them.
IA St QB was maturing, you have to account for kids like this that start and flounder but then get accustomed to the speed of D-1 football... and he is a dual threat, so it especially hurts Ok St.
IA St was playing for bowl eligibility.
    Home ESPN weeknight game.

Are you serious??? Who has Ok. St. beat? 6 of their 10 wins are against teams that have been ranked in the top 25 this season. Two of which have been ranked in the top 10.

All are bigger than last nite.
OK St 27 pts was ridiculous.
    Who have they beat?
    They have NO "D".
    NONE!
They are an AT team playing on soft NT, affects throws, cuts, blocking.HUGE FACTOR!!!!
They were looking ahead to OK.
They might have been flat with the plane crash... but that should not be accounted for, who knows?
IA St was playing for bowl bid.
IA St was home ESPN weeknight dog.
IA St QB was maturing... some of these guys take a few games... like Franklin at MU... adjusting to first time start job. Watch out for the ones that can run.
LSU, ALA, ORE, heatlhy Oklahoma would bt OK St by 20.
VT, Clemson, GA, ARK, USC, healthy Stanford, Mich St are all better than OK St, too, on NT if they play in bowl game I will load up against OK St... no "D"!

    Who?
For some reason Big 12 is way, way overrated this yr.
Sagarrin, for example, is out of his mind. #2 Ok St, #4 Ok, #9 A&M, #10 K St, #11 MU, #13 Texas, #20 Baylor!
    Hilarious!
Other polls, etc, voters are attracted to "O".
Lots of O in the Big 12 but no D other than OK and Texas has some but not fully developed, next yr watch out.
Wait for bowl games, you will see teams like GA eat Big 12 teams alive, pound the ball on O and stop them on D.
Oklahoma is banged up but has NFL beef on both sides of the ball, will pound OK St even though letdown that the OK ST loss eliminates their BCS chances, probably.
NFL beef on D separates the big dogs from offensive skill only teams like OK St.
LSU-ALA-ORE would beat OK ST by 20+ but also a healthy Stanford-VT-Clemson-Ark-USC- heatlhy So Carolina could beat them by 10 (though Stanford and Ark D ares not so hot).
Baylor? A&M? K State? Those teams are ca-ca.
