Unbelievable. As a fan of the Vikes, i'm not happy (cap is fcked now). Guy has at most 3 elite years left. Don't need an elite RB to win a Superbowl. Name the last time a big contract for an RB worked out? Should have traded him this offseason.

does seem to be a little long, but he his their best offensive player by far, best to keep him happy during his elite years

Exactly, anyone would, it's common sense. And I tend to believe the Vikings organization knows more about this matter than a few guys here.
these contracts these guys put out there, in the nfl, for the public to read are ridiculous....its all fluff...so these guys can get some headlines.....and feel like they are making money on par with nba and mlb stars......this contract is worth basically 12 mil a year for the next 3 years(which is less than john fuckin lackey)......3 years from now is about the estimated time table when peterson will slow down into current tomlinson territory....hell prob squeeze a 4th year out of it if he stays healthy....

He deserves it. Likely a HOF running back. Only about a 1/3 of it is guaranteed.
Did I miss something? Are teams now playing with 10 men on offense at a time now? No running backs league. You pay EVERY position on the team, if that guy is your best player and he happens to be the running back, what's the big deal?
Peyton Hillis had a good season last year and he wasn't the starter, he is getting big time money, is there anything wrong with that?

Couldn't agree more with this. Maybe it makes sense from a marketing viewpoint as he sells tickets but the recent Pats champs, last year's Packers without Grant... you could go on and on. You're right, you don't need a premiere back to compete for the ring. I'd much rather have a rock left tackle.
