Antonio I will be here when you love back

I will not give you points either

If your going just for action and cheaper living its fine but if your going to try and make money gambling it will not end well

    Best of luck Son

Don't gamble or spend money on the strip.
Stay in a weekly or monthly place until you know the layout of the town
You'll find that Vegas is just like any other town outside the resort corridor with 2 exceptions - one can gamble and drink almost anywhere 24/7 - beware.
I've met alot of guys here that say they "play poker for a living", but they all seem to have jobs or another source of income.
Best advice I can give is keep your eyes and ears open and understand it's all an illusion designed to separate you from your BR quickly.
Hope you find your experience successful.

I think you can do it.it.
I moved out here to vegas 18 months ago, and I have been doing it.
I did come out with a job as backup but only work 1 day a week.
Just be very disciplined and stick to your plan.

Well I'm here, I arrived last week. I'm currently staying the Las Vegas Club until Thursday then will be looking for the cheapest booking through the weekend. So far so good, haven't gotten started playing poker yet. I'm getting a feel for the town and right now am concentrating on finding all the promotions and freebies that are offered here along with the best meal deals being offered. Will post pictures when I get a camera. Next week my plan begins. 1-2 poker tournaments a day with 1 sports bet in the evening/ usually a good 2h line on a basketball game.

I will post more as I begin to progress in my journey.

Cell Phone....sold my car, no debt (that i will be paying off anytime soon hah)....but my major expense comes in finding housing. Right now i stay wherever the cheapest rate is but once i get started and hopefully win some cash I would like to secure an apartment. It all depends on what makes the most sense financially. I don't have much money right now, so every penny counts. Like yesterday for example Went walking down freemont with no cash in my pocket. By the time we came back to the room we had eaten, bought a pack of cigarettes and had $30 cash. I know one thing...there is NO 1 that has hit the promotions like me and my friend.

anytime you want to drink as much booze as you want make sure to hit up Mermaids on Freemont, no trouble scoring free drinks there every now and then throw a buck into a penny slot machine(every hour or so) the free booze is non stop there.

You guys should be seriously spending some time looking for work. 10K is not a lot of cash in Vegas and all in takes is a few bad runs and you'll be in financial trouble. I would try and look for an apartment complex where you might be able to offset your rent by doing maintenance or odd jobs. VegasPlayer is spot on when he speaks about how Vegas is an "illusion designed to separate you from your BR quickly", don't fall in that trap. There's a reason why free booze and promos are readily available in casinos, to dull the mind and loosen up your senses. Stay sharp and keep your focus.

In 1986 I, like you're about to and at your same age, moved to Vegas leaving behind the cold winters of Pennsylvania. I have never regretted it. Nevada is a fantastic state to live and a great place to raise a family. BUT Las Vegas is a transient town. It's a place where you can find a lot of acquaintances but it's a tough place to find people you can really count on and can really and truly call your friends. So the only thing I would have done differently, and I certainly recognize this wouldn't work for everyone, would have been to join a church sooner. It was there that I met the "normal" people (the business owners, attorneys, police officers, teachers, nurses, etc.) and really found my community of wonderful, caring, awesome friends. Something I was never able to find here before.

Most people think moving to Vegas is going to change things. Be a better gambler, win mwin. its just a myth. Either you got it or you don't. If you can't win sitting at home capping games you are not going to do it in Vegas

I can't handle more than four days in that town, after that it becomes depressing. I suggest taking your journey day by day, avoid going on tilt at all costs. G.L.

Not sure why you want to stick to tournaments. The variance in tournaments is immense and you could go months without seeing a profit. If you truly believe in your poker skills, start with cash games. My suggestion is exploit the easiest competition. That being said.... Start a new schedule and stick to playing from midnight until 6am or 7am. At that time of the evening/morning, you have 2 things going for you.

    1. Other sharks making a living from playing poker are either in bed or partying
    2. There are so many drunks who have no idea whats going on, its like printing money.

depends what tourneys, the variance would not be very high if you are playing tourneys with only like 15-25 people or so which I see many of at golden nugget and binions during the bash.

where are all these poker tourneys in Vegas? Poker is not played as much as one would think in Vegas.

Not that I would try what the OP is doing here, but I've always thought how easy it would be to make money playing poker against your typical Vegas tourist playing in the smaller cash games. Like Chile here just said...if you are playing against 80% people who are wasted out of their minds its seems like it shouldn't be that hard to make some money. I think key would be to just play a bit tight and conservative and try to take all emotion out of it. The drunk guys will be playing with emotion, you will need to only play with your head.

Probably would be a boring way to make a living though....12 am - 6 am playing very tight
