Craps- Are players that bet DONT heckled and viewed as the enemy?

This question is for people that play in craps in a real casino, not just online.

I am just learning the game of Craps but have yet to actually play it real.

I have been told again and again the best bets is to always play the pass line
(House edge betting pass line: 1.41%)

I have tried playing the pass line (which of course includes playing the free odds) in simulator games, and LOSE!

I keep being told what a GREAT bet the free odds is, but yet 7-out happens all the time. How is it such a great bet if other every time I play the pass line the dice crap out!?

I started experimenting with betting the DONT PASS (House edge betting DONT: 1.36%), then after the coming out, betting the DONT COME.

This strategy has been remarkably better for me!

I realize I have a lot to learn about this game, but I do win betting DONT.

I have been advised that betting the DONT is a terrible strategy, depsite that 7 is stastically the number most likely to be rolled.

Will betting the DONT will have me viewed as the enemy to other players?

Will there be an overall negative experience at the tables because everyone will be betting the pass line and COME?

Typically, most people won't give you too much shit for the wagers you place on the table at a live casino.

However, I have certainly seen shooters get pissed, when people bet "against" them by playing don't pass.

What I can tell you is this sir, online craps, I have NEVER been able to go on a long rush, and honestly I don't even think I've ever rolled more than 10 times without 7 out. In live casinos, I've been on PLENTY of runs, where you've got all the numbers working for you, and 3-5x odds on your pass line bet, 10, 15, 20 rolls - although not common, I find that I 7 out a LOT more online than at the real casino.

    Been playing dice for years.
More times than not I'm on the Don't side.
Never been heckled for betting Don't in my life.

The thing is, you can make major bank at the table if you get a hot shooter.
I've seen guys make nine passes, hitting 11 numbers along the way before make his point, guys leaving with stacks of purple chips.
    But that's the exception.

For the most part, you can make money betting Don't, but it's a grind, and most people who play craps don't want to stand there for 3 hours, laying 60 to win 30 on a ten not coming before a seven.

If you must play numbers, buy the true odds, pay the vig for true odds payouts.

p.s. according to legend, it's considered bad luck to fade a woman thrower.

    thanks guys for your feedback.

I am also wondering something about props. I've been told NEVER to bet props. The 7 any way prop that pays 7-1... can anyone explain why this is such a terrible bet?

For me, IF i lose my DONT pass bet it's usually on a first roll 7.

Just seems like 7 any way at 7-1 isn't such a bad play.

So it got me thinking about a possible system of betting the 7 any way along with the DONT pass.

    hypothetical situation;
I have $750. I play exactly ten shooters. I lay $50 on DONT pass and $25 on the (+700) 7 any way prop, for every new shooter only (that way i'm playing all come outs and if there's no craps on the come out my DONT pass still has action until craps or the point hits)

Would I go for broke trying this?

For each time I hit my $25 7 any way prop I pocket $175 + my $25 back.

Wouldnt it be possible for this to happen more than once in 10 shooters? I'm sure some shooters hit 2 or 3 sevens on the come out back to back. I don't know?

$750 bankroll. Playing $50 on DONT pass and $25 on (+700) 7 any way.

PRESUMING only one come out 7 is hit:

    Roll 1: 7 natural (+125)
    Roll 2: Point 4 (-75)
    Roll 3: 7 out (+25)
    Roll 4: Point 8 (-75)
    Roll 5: Point 10 (-75)
    Roll 6: 7 out (+25)
    Roll 7: 7 out (+25)
    Roll 8: Point 6 (-75)
    Roll 9: 7 out (+25)
    Roll 10: Point 4 (-75)

This series would be a LOSS of $75.

Even if there were two natural 7's this ten series there would only be a profit of a mere 50 bucks.

No one will give you any grief unless you outwardly root for a seven out or worse yet cheer when you get one.

Play the "Don't Come" after the comeout.
On the next roll no one wants a 7.
You won't be betting against the Pass Line number and if a 7 gets rolled, most of the players won't notice that you are getting paid.
They will think you just had the Last Come.

any 7 pays either 4 to 1 or 5 to 1 depending on the casino. There is no way you are getting 7 to 1 on a 6 to 1 prop. If that was the case, Craps would no longer be played at casinos.

Four TO one is the exact same thing as five FOR one. Check the layout to see if the word "to" or "for" is being used.

I've gotten a few nasty looks at Mohegan Sun playing the don't pass. I try to keep it simple though, play for entertainment mostly when I'm up there. Usually buy the 6 & 8 along with the pass and back up the 6 & 8 if thats the point. Might seem plain but I've ended up having decent runs and plenty of fun. I'm don't go to rack my brain, just to blow off steam and have a few drinks.

Throw an occasional 2 way 10 dollar yo. Box guys will shut the hell up. Probably even know your name. Remember, those guys work for tips.

The other players, just ignore them.
Sportsmanship is highly underrated. Use good sportsmanship.
Don't over-celebrate when you win, and they lose.
If they over-celebrate when you lose, then 'stick it to them' when you win.

Most importantly, don't let anybody else tell you how to place wagers, ITS YOUR FUKKIN MONEY, not theirs.

    That's not bad, that's simple.
    That's good advice.

The best way to avoid this is play @ a table by yourself...... I go downtown @ 4-5 in the morning where u can always have a table to yourself

This is nonsense, don't pay any attention to crap like this. The house edge at don't pass is almost identical to the house edge on the pass line. 1.41% or thereabouts. Do you know what house edge means? It means that for every $100 in bets you make, you lose $1.41. You bet 10K, you lose $141. You bet 1 million, you lose $14K. House edge is a billing system built into the game. Play craps for the thrill every once in awhile. But remember that to the house, they see every bet you make as a 1.41% confiscation.

First of all, don't worry what other people think at the table. It's your money and your game. Sportmanship is correct, but don't be a fukkin doink thinking you're on the wrong side by playing the don't. It's there for a reason, Stevie is correct it's a grind, but money can be made from the dark side. Props are sucker bets, if you're up, hey play the middle of the table, but to win money, play a side use good judgement, and always, ALWAYS use good bankroll management.

Good Luck..........and always love to hear these words ""SEVEN-OUT, LINE AWAY, PAY THE DON'T""

This is nonsense, don't listen to any of it. You are no more likely to make money playing the don't pass than you are playing pass. They have almost identical odds, which is a 1.41% profit to the house for every bet you make.

You don't make money playing craps. You lose money. It's entertainment. Play sparingly and have fun. Bet what you want to bet. Win some money and lose some money. The fact is that the more you play the more you lose. And don't listen to anyone who says otherwise.

noone cares if u bet the don't ... but advice, pick the don't or the pass and stick w it ... ride a win streak or lose streak ... don't switch back and forth, take the odds and the lays everytime ... I stick to this and do alot better then when i use to jump back and forth ... all the people i see win, ride streaks, parlay, etc.
