    Strikeforce Challengers 14

One of the better challenger events imo.

Have the lines been opening on Thursdays for these?

Great value in Lee Higgins at +425 IMO...clearly Ryan is so heavily favoured due to his dad's name! Lee Higgins is a decent prospect. Already down to +350

More than half of Healy's 23 wins came by submission (including submissions over Hardy, Daley and Condit). Fancy Pants has a great ground game as well. Should be a fun fight.

What do you guys think about Healy? Why was Beerbolm taking fights against guys with only a couple pro fights in December?

Honestly, I dont know much. But, his BJJ seems solid and I dont think Couture has the stand up to control the fight. Maybe Im wrong with the limited knowledge of both fighters, but +300 and up just seems like to much for someone failry one dimentsional in their 2nd pro fight. Its not like his one dimension is world class either. He was choked unconsious in his last amatuer fight, but ref said he was saved by the bell.

IDK, you would think his career may be cuddled a bit by Strikeforce, but Randy was never one to take a gimmie fight, so who knows. Kind of took a shot in the dark on Higgins. +325 on 5d currently.

I'm putting a small play on Higgins at +340. Couture shouldn't be at -425 here unless he's improved leaps and bounds since his last outing.
I think this will be fairly evenly matched from what I've seen from each guy.

Douglas seems like a pretty nice lock (not that I believe in locks). This guy KOs peeps and has only lost by submission. He has the reach and size against gonzalez in this one, and gonzalez isn't known for having great TDs.

Something to counteract my underdog bets of which I have a couple for this event.

Prato/Travers is hard to call. Prato is a BJJ BB but has been taken down and subbed easily in the past. Travers is a credible wrestler that fought up to HW and is now fighting at 160 which he has never done. but He didn't seem to have many cardio problems at WW against Healy. Anybody else got anything to say about this one?

^ Yeah, this is Strikeforce people. Stop over analyzing.

No real value anywhere on this card, but if I can get some props I'd take Couture by submission, Travers by decision (and over rounds), and Douglas/Gonzalez Under 2.5 preferably.

If I'm stuck with ML's, I'll be taking Fabricio Camoes on the Tachi Palace card.

yep throw that higgins money away if you want....if you really see value go right ahead but i know how the game works Higgins was picked for Ryan for a reason and This is Erik Apples comeback fight vs a texas nobody. Parlay the two , reduce risk ...odds are you get paid outside of some fluke injury or DQ.

lol you're going to lay down money based on your superior knowledge of "the game?"

Ryan is 28 with 1 professional win. He's not going to the top and casual fans dont give a shit about whether he wins or loses. Most don't even know he exists.

lol feel free to call me an idiot when he's UFC LW champ in 2014 though

what are you talking about ufc LW champ in 2014 wtf??? You are silly if you think the Couture name isnt marketable and a loss would hurt that... see kim " sugar free" couture you really think Randys or xtreme couture management are going to give this kid more than he can chew on showtime in his 2nd pro fight get real. You have to look at this outside of being a fan if you are a promoter whats better for you and strikeforce building a star or letting him swim to deep and drown. And your also kidding yourself if you think people arent tuning in because theres a couture on the card some want to see him lose some want to see how good he is so on and so on.

The reason higgins was the choice (see his youtube fight his tkdwns avg/stand up poor

In Higgins, Couture sees an opponent less than comfortable on his feet but with solid wrestling and a knack for capitalizing on opportunities. He'd like to see what he can accomplish on the feet and try utilizing his 73-inch reach.
"If you give up your back or give [Higgins] a dominant position, he keeps it," Couture said. "So I have to stay ahead of the game and not concede a position to him. Hopefully, I'll be able to apply the advantage I feel I have on the feet."

I agree with teaser here. He makes a lot of sense. Randys son will be spoon fed a few more opponents. And there is absolutely no gambling value in taking him straight up. Only parlay material. I don't know shit about these guys but teaser sounds like he knows what he's talkin about. I'm gonna tail because of slow sports weekend.
