IF PENN loses i would love to see penn vs diaz at welterweight

that would be fun, both can only box i nthe pocket, both have iron chins and both are wicked on the ground. once edgar landed 1st takedown bj is fighting the exact same way as 1st fight, slow and behind the ball

i was one that thought edgar won the 1st fight but this is the same fight but edgar has adjusted and improved and penn is totally confused yet its the same fight. he is losted, his boxing is one dimensional he needs a takedown badly

Penn looked scared before the bell just like he did in the GSP fight. I really think GSP crushed any and all confidence that BJ had. He looks out of it and has no swagger whatsoever.

definately gsp had the formula and edgar is just plain younger and fluid. penn cannot move, he can only move straight forward, fighters are afraid edgar wasn't and he is plain better. there is no doubt, penn needs a few more tools to bet guys like i guess edgar

Yup Penn still doesn't train like any of the current champions these days. His conditioning is always sub-par and he can't rely on his natural talent anymore these days to win. GSP definitely exposed BJ and laid the blueprint for future opponents of BJ and how to neutralize his strengths.

Diaz would take this fight. From here on out people fighting against Penn will use Edgar's strategy of moving in and out and not letting penn stalk them. I don't think I will be betting on Penn again unless he is a nice sized underdog

I agree, Diaz is a bad-matchup stylistically as well. Uses the tap-tap jab-jab technique, not as good movement as Edgar but still effective striking and not as strong as Edgar but has better BJJ so doubt BJ could sub him. Has solid chin as well so couldnt see him gettin TKO'd or KO'd by Penn.

Id like to see this fight, then the winner could get a title shot after Edgar & Maynard go at it

Sotiripolous will get the next title shot I think. He'll fight Penn or Florian next and win

I don't think he's finished at all. He hot outwrestled by the best wrestler in the division. I still think he is way better than Edgar or any other lightweight not named Penn or Maynard, he just doesn't match up well with them. And I am not a Florian fan, this is objective

I wish they gave someone closer to the top to Sotiropoulos. He deserves to be in the top spots.

It's hard to see Penn moving to welterweight because GSP has destroyed him so many times, but you never know. If he wants a couple of non title fights to finish his career it might be a smart move.

He had all the potential in the world. That was 6 years ago, since he beat Hughes he peaked that was his best win in his career and hasn't done anything special since then. Not saying he was a bad fighter since then just who exactly has he beaten that makes him p4p since then. His biggest strength and weakness has been the fact that he is so talented and can fight in multiple weight classes. It's not his fault UFC didn't have a 155 pd weight class forever. He wasted his best years feuding with the UFC and Dana. If would have upheld his contract after beating Hughes then he would be the face of the TUF era along with Liddell, Hughes, and Couture.

The only 2 people i would be interested in him fighting is Hughes and Serra.
After he beats them then i would be interested in Contender fights.
