Just been around too long for these types of single action bets to bite me in the ass.

MMA one kick or lucky punch u lose

    NFL comes down to penalties

NBA they blow 20 pt 4th qtr leads

MLB the long ball craziness just kills late inning leads

NHL still pretty consistent w lines, kudos

Have to stay in the -180 to +150 range and just adjust your wagers.

That fight went 5 rounds....I know Nunes beat her up...but it went the distance and who's to say they saw that coming???

Ya it went that distance, but at no time was Nunes in trouble. Spencer sat there for 25 min and took a beating. The only thing no one saw is Spencer having a pretty good chin

like usual the consensus here is wrong

yes it could've been bet at much better odds... but betting a bunch of huge moneyline chalk has proven to be a good long-term strategy

i think ncaa hoops favorites of -3000 or more had a stretch where they won over 300 games in a row

    I would do it.

Me, I don't really bet more than 500 bucks on sports, so I couldn't bet 500 to win less than a bill, so that's why I didn't want to waste my time
This is jjgold level logic. It's very possible to make over $1 million in bets per year never risking more than $500 on a single wager. If they are all as good as that Nunes bet, that would mean at least a $50,000 profit for the year. Then after doing that enough and having a lot more money, eventually you can bet $1,000 and earn $100,000 per year.

It didn't work out for Vegas Dave though when he had a million dollar bet on Miesha Tate at -250 over Amanda Nunes.

Nunes is in a class of her own. Only legit threat is Valentina....all others have no chance. She toyed with Spencer like nothing......she wasn't even trying and threw a couple significant strikes to keep it real. Otherwise she just coasted and waiting for the opportunity to finish. She proved her point against Tate, Rousey, and Cyborg.......

    It went 5 rounds

Yes, she dominated the fight. But it went 5 rounds. In a MMA fight ANYTHING can happen late in a match. Just ask Connor McGregor or Ronda Rousey.

Laying -600 is fine if you wanna pick up a quick $300 or so, but for $1mm and the BS that goes with the tracking of the money, the risk and the taxes on the profit....not worth it.

Remember, dude gets a 1099 on that $166k fir another 30% off the top. So better laid $1mm really at -1000 which is a bad bet given the line.

Spin it, justify it, tell me no such thing as a bad bet if it wins, etc...ok ok. But he didn't get a fair return on his money for the ill advised risk he took.

Lot of countries to do not collect taxes on gambling (double taxation and all that). Very easy to get someone from those places on the team and avoid taxes. Pretty standard at this level.

William Hill bettor*wins $1M wager on Amanda Nunes at UFC 250. A*bettor*at aWilliam Hill*sportsbook in Las Vegas placed a $1*million*wager to win $166,666 on Amanda Nunes over Felicia Spencer in the main event of UFC 250 on Saturday.

Bet was placed in Las Vegas. That's USA income.

Also, it's never easy to give someone or a group $1mm in cash to split it up, without fear of a theft, accident, ransom, etc...

Not sure how that's "standard" yet makes the headlines and ESPN ticker....

it's a w-2g, not a 1099... and you only get a w-2 g from sports bets that are 300 times the original wager

and ronda rousey never lost late in a match

You really can't understand that it is possible to travel to Las Vegas from another part of the world?

It's never easy to even have $1 million in cash in which to make this bet. But once someone, or a group of someones, has that money, they know what to do with it to maximize their return.

Spencer never had a chance....the was a great bet.....-600 that should have been -2500.....this was not men's where spencer even had a KO chance like Pettis vs Thompson.....it was absolute free $.......like an adult vs a 8 year old......ZERO chance..maybe a 1:100 nunes throws an illegal strike lol.....weird stuff happens but capping the fight -600 was a joke....

Actually it's a 1040NR (we're talking about foreign gamblers) and 30% is automatically withheld on any amount of winnings in excess of $600, unless you're from Canada, where I guess there's a reciprocity treaty of some kind.

So if dude was a foreigner he had $55k of that withheld and opened himself up to A LOT of scrutiny. If he was domestic player he'd get the W2G form on anything over $600 and have 24% automatically withheld.

    His -600 was actually -1000

    no he would not

like i said, on sports bets it's 300x the original wager

you honestly think they are withholding taxes and issuing w-2g forms on every $1000 bet in vegas
