UFC 197 March 5th Holly Holm vs Miesha Tate and Conor McGregor vs Rafael Dos Anjos

Figured Holm vs Tate would be happening soon, but didn't expect the Conor fight to be the same night.

The Cyborg should be fighting Holm; ridiculous that they don't give her a chance.

Holly would probably move up in weight to fight her(she already said that she would)

Cyborg already has a fight coming up in a week. So the Tate fight makes sense right now and IMO I think she deserves it.

It's tough to punk Mesha Tate standing and certainly on the ground.. Holly Holm will be tested... Mesha Tate is the better wrestler bottom line... +323 it's worth a try I think..

The problem with betting meSha tate is she's not that bright, very low fighter iq, she will almost always do opp of what she should Do.. should be a much better fight than the Rousey fight though, I might throw 50 or 100 bucks on tate, just because I didn't expect the line to be so high, value is there to put a little some then, some then on it.

Not a chance dos anjos murders mcgregor, by far dos anjos toughest fight of his life, if he doesn't come in with the mind set to fight to a set gameplan from the very beginning, he gets starched... conor's advantages are counter striking, more power, quicker, crisper, fighter iq, reach, chin and mind games, having fought in the pressure of a mcgregor fight, he strives under pressure...dos anjos advantages are chin and wrestling. Bjj is even beside what people and stats will have you believe, I'm on Conor straight and by ko, and I will hedge with dos Angos just incase he comes in with the perfect gameplan and survives the 5 rounds. Conor moving up in weight, will be stronger by not having to go through such a drastic weight cut, wrestling will be better, Mendes is a better wrestler than dos anjos but dos anjos is better at transitions from striking to wrestling, a similar comparison fight, is pettis, but conor's striking, wrestling, power and iq are all way above pettis. Dos Angos either makes it a close fight that goes to the judges, or he continues to show confidents in his striking game, and gets starched. Dos anjos has a nice chin but no one stays standing after taking a few of mcgregors lefts, and he will take them, as I mentioned, he has to fight his way in for the takedown.

Mcgregor just wants dos angos to be better than he is, after this fight....

"But the twenty-six-year-old McGregor doesn't want to be regarded as peerless in only a single facet of his occupation—as just a puncher. "I don't look at a man who's expert in one area as a specialist," he says. "I look at him as a rookie in ten other areas. If you can box, what happens if I grab hold of your legs? If you put me face-to-face with Floyd Mayweather—pound-for-pound boxing's best—if I fought Floyd, I would kill him in less than thirty seconds. It would take me less than thirty seconds to wrap around him like a BkofAma constrictor and strangle him."
McGregor sees the human body the way he sees fights, the way he sees this New York bar in which he's sheltering from the cold, the way he sees existence: Each is a collection of openings and avenues, roadblocks and hurdles. He always sits, as he is sitting now, with his back to a corner; he has scouted the exits; he has several routes of possibility mapped out in his cartographer's brain, every available advance and retreat. "I have a self-defense mind," he says. "I've had it all my life."

The way even the most successful still covet, McGregor dreams of possessing the ultimate trapdoor, of mastering the decisive submission that would finish any opponent: the rear naked choke. He has never managed to apply it during a UFC fight. He talks about it the way any of us talks about an object of desire that eludes us.
"It's the most dominant submission," he says almost wistfully. It isn't an arm or a knee bar or an ankle lock, each of which leaves its victim the opportunity to survive, however slight. And it isn't a punch that can be slipped or countered. The rear naked choke is almost a metaphor for the consequences of our most calamitous mistakes. "You can do nothing to me, but I can do whatever the penetrate I want to you," McGregor says. "I have complete control."
He's not sure he's making himself plain enough. He wants you to understand the feeling of true hopelessness, the sensation of every last door closing to you. He wants you to hate that feeling, which will make you appreciate more deeply the moments you are free. His longtime girlfriend, Dee Devlin, sitting beside him in the bar, does her best to explain his intentions. "He wants you to be better than you are," she says."

    Respectfully disagree.

Khabib was a nightmare match-up for him. if I were Dos Anjos, I would much rather fight Conor than have to deal with Khabib's style again.

forgot about khabib, you are correct, khabib when healthy is a nightmare match-up for anybody...matchup wise khabib is a tougher fight, and if he wasn't always injured, he'd be champion by now.

dos anjos hasnt been finished however since 2010, he gets finished in this fight, I Shoulda' said most dangerous fight of his life.

Problem with Meisha is she's just stupid as fuk. She has some way better entries into the clinch and doesnt rely on the bodylock exclusively, which means she has a better chance than Ronda. Only problem is the idiot will likely strike with Holm, like she did against Eye and almost lost, until she got a lucky knockdown. Oh yeah, and she tried to take Ronda down too looool.

Meisha youve got a nice ass but you're fuken dumb.

I was never a fan of Conor, but having watched the way he has destroyed worthy opponents, one can't help but think he can take out the machine that Dos anjos has become... I've never seen anyone dismantle Cerrone like that.

Holly Holm is a lie. A complete lie that will get exposed much quicker than rousey... Tate isn't the answer, but Rousey is. Holly Holm Is on as much juice as Cyborg was and she will either test positive or be off the juice when she loses. Her physique on fight night against rousey didn't raise the suspicions that it should have. Make note of her rear delts and you'll see what I mean.

If Holly is on the juice, then so is Rousey.

Holly won because she has way more professional striking experience than Ronda does, or ever will. She came into the fight with a gameplan and Rousey didn't. Ronda used the same wild fighting style that has worked for her in the past against lesser opponents and paid for it against a superior fighter.

    Nice pic, point taken

    But

Ronda will adjust and the loss makes her a stronger person both physically, and more importantly, mentally.

She might. I just wonder how serious she will be training for this rematch while trying to be a movie star.

That is of course IF Holm beats Tate.

I hope that she realizes that it's hard to do both, and she puts her time and energy into training.... The movies can wait, and she will be worth more if she can redeem herself.

I don't agree with this match making. Connor should have to prove himself at lw before deserving a title shot. I know he's a big FW but none the less he should have a few fights before being thrown into the mix.

I don't get danas logic here, risking his cash cow like this. I think a frankie Edgar vs Connor makes alot more sense.

Mcgregor desides what mcgregor does not dana. Frankie Is a tougher matchup for certain mental reasons, style matchup reasons, don't feel like breaking it down now. McGregor beats both guys, but frankies gonna have some huge value in his line.

Correct, 100 percent, also Edgar mental mindset is on par with mcgregors, he won't be swayed from his gameplan for a second. Much tougher fight than dos anjos.

Why is Conor McGregor able to go up a class and fight Rafael Dos Anjos?
Not sure why Dana White would want that fight. Especially since, at least I feel, that those are two of the best weight-classes in-terms of fighters.
