I think I'd rather see McGregor get dropped and put to sleep more then Nick Diaz right now.. Never thought I'd say that..

I like Conor's attitude, ambition and intelligence. He's a real threat to Aldo. Aldo has been champion for a long time but he's spent most of his reign being a conservative, one might almost say boring champion. I think Conor would finish a lot of the people Aldo took to decision wins inside the 1st round. Aldo took Mark Hominick, Kenny Florian, Urijah Faber, Frankie Edgar and Ricardo Lamas to a decision. I think Conor would have finished some if not all of those guys.

Conor could be the champion the bantamweight division needs but doesn't deserve. But if Aldo manages to pull out the win I'll be happy either way.

I'm still shocked at how many are buying into Conor's hype. He's legit, but not near the level of Aldo.... Aldo with bruised ribs and one leg could still school this clown. Aldo all day.

I'm buying into the McGregor hype.

The great thing about this is we'll get to find out whether it was hype or not.

Aldo being pressurized to fight (unnecessarily with Mendes stoked to stand-in)...

smells like "story-arc fish" dinner being prepared for the doltish masses...

    1) fractious heel McG wins tainted fight with "rib issue" obviously crucial
    2) stoke flames for rematch
    3) lather, repeat=2x$ for the company

to appreciate "the rib thing", do this...

    1. tell a friend to surprise drop a bowling ball on your chest from a meter in heigh while you rest peacefully with your eyes shut...

    2. lose 15 pounds over the next 15 days...

    3. be your best...ready fight!

    ___________

another thing you can do to help you understand the politics of the situation is take a "case study" approach...you are Dana and you have a choice between

door#1: serving up a cripple to the McFlashmeister/McHeel $-printing hype machine (this doesn't ALWAYS work...see the end of the movie Gladiator...but it wins far more often than an actual fair fight between two fit competitors)

    or

door#2: feeding McFlashmeister to a fit elite Smotherer-Banger (Mendez in this case, but Edgar would have served just as well)...and risk bringing this massive gravy train to an abrupt "emperors new clothes" halt

hint at why #2 VERY unlikely to happen...consider a brief recent history of
    Seemingly-invincible Flashmeister vs. elite Smotherer-Banger
(think Thatch v. Bendo, LH-Rumble v. DC for starters...hell look at what happened to Ryan Laflare when he ran into super-smothering but pillow-punching Maia...you get the idea)

    _____________

Aldo is hurt...seriously hurt...can't train, fukking up his already terrible weight-cutting ordeal...

MMA fans are such dolts to take everything the company tells them at face value...

    ___
McPussy postures like he doesn't care who he fights cuz he knows they're gonna serve up the crippled champ to him...

no way he (or the UFC) is gonna fukk things up now by taking on a fit Smotherer-Banger that'll expose him...

Enjoy your pre-tainted "story arc"-filtered fight

There are still concerns about Aldo's status for the fight. It's likely Aldo will be out but UFC and Dana White trying to keep things in tact to still try to promote and sell tickets / PPVs leading up to fight week. It's growing increasingly more and more that Mendes will likely get the nod. Jose Aldo reportedly will not train Tuesday and will wait until Friday to evaluate the injury.

When you think about it, White didn't want to rush and make a quick decision to disappoint the fans. They'll probably pull a bait-and-switch tactic as "breaking news" after the July 4th weekend.

I'm planning on this fight to be headlined as Mendes vs McGregor.

Damn i hope you're right UL...

i'd love to trade in this "McMarketableHeel beats cripple" ticket I bought on tainted "story arc" grounds...

for a real "Smotherer-Banger exposes Flashmeister" that i'd love to hold while watching a real contest

    _________________
if there's gonna be a title fight, i want it to be a fair fight against fit guys...not something that goddam "future marketing considerations" have dictated...

i'm one of those guys that considers McG to have a better shot at Aldo than either Chad/Frankie, but still figure Aldo wins vast majority cuz

"no viable TD threat to cramp Aldo's striking" + "tons of deep water for Aldo vs zero for McG"
    >> "aldo's kicking effectiveness against a lefty decreases" issue

but we can NOT get a fit Aldo this weekend...so if it ain't changed to a fit Mendes, you gotta bet it as what it is...a tainted horseshit story-arc fight between the golden-haired McMarketability and a well-paid cripple

so i really hope the company does the right thing and gives us a fair fight...somehow i doubt it

really wish i could believe that the company gonna let McFlashmeister risk being prematurely (from a $$-marketing standpoint--although, as a competitive-fighting thing, it's long frackin' overdue that they throw this guy in with someone able to dictate WHERE the fight takes place) exposed...

a real fight with a fit Mendes >>>
some revenue-driven mismatch (in which i bet on the heel but pull for the cripple)

no forget jeezus people...let the Champ recover

all the idiotic twitter chatter: Dana says "Aldo's got the same thing that Cowboy had when he fought McDessi"...etc. etc..fukk you got a fit stand-in ready...how anybody can be swallowing, even clamoring for a tainted fight is beyond me

these fighters are human beings, not comic-book heroes whose bodies can violate all laws of physics and biology to satisfy your "who'd win" curiosity and/or garden-variety thirst for violence...

let'em heal...don't make'em fight hurt (unless it's that goddam excuse machine khabib, lol)

    1. Dana, do the right thing...
    2. Go Mendez: ice that prick, then rest YOUR testicles on HIS forehead

Ariel Helwani@arielhelwani 1h1 hour ago It's official: UFC announced that Jose Aldo is out of UFC 189. It'll be McGregor vs MENDES for the interim title on July 11.

...look forward to seeing Mendes very deliberately place his Reebok-clad testicles on the forehead of Iced McHorizontal

Taking Mendes for sure! He must be super stoked and takes advantage - like how Cormier did for the interim belt. Last I saw was what? Mendes -125? I'm hoping the wagon shifts so I can get a favorable line and play Chad "Money Line" Mendes.

    -130/+110 at 5d
-145/+115 at SIA (always good to have a "square" book like Bodog/SIA which, despite a large spread/rake between the two sides, often shades in such a way as to give extra-fat payouts on the dog)
    _______
wow, the sharpest/smallest-rake book, pinny has -130/+118

gonna take some Chad Smotherer-Banger at +118 (over
Conor McFlashmeister)...look to add more as the McNutHuggers re-boot their positions...

damn, benefited from this as i submitted the play...got at +122

    pinny line now -135/+122

Also looking forward to Aldo vs McG, but Mendes will do. Picking Mendes to edge out McG.
