    Sac is back.

Sincerest apologies for being the worst troll this forum has ever known. I was doing it for shits and giggles but the joke eventually gets old.

Sac is back, mad props to the serious gamblers who actually take the time to help us out.

The banana guard is no more, Tor Johnson is back.

Hey Nuns, just watched the movie "All in : The Poker Movie" and thought of you pal.. I know you're a poker guy.. Curious? Have you ever tried your luck with online poker and have you been successful with it?.. Seems like just random gambling to me.. Hard to get an edge in other words playing online..

Then again that dude "Chris Money Maker" the 2003 world series of poker champion is quite a story though!!!

No, I don't watch much poker movies, or poker on TV. I find it dreadfully boring.

Yeah, I've been playing online poker since 1999. I started playing online before I ever stepped into a cardroom. Built up basically everything I have from a $50 deposit on planetpoker.

I much prefer online poker to live, playing one table is incredibly boring, online I usually play 6-8, in the heyday when there were more games available I'd play up to 24-30 at a time.

I figured you were on it like that but I'm surprised you choose online over live play... I have a friends nephew whom is a wiz kid just out of college and does surprising well playing online poker himself.. Doing that to support himself rather then getting a job..

I just can't get a grip on how you can get a feel for the other players when you can't see their faces, body movements, gestures, etc.. It sounds like a pure grind to be successful as bluff calls don't apply.... I have a decent live poker game myself I've developed over the years and beginning to look into this live online poker play.

Oh and Nuns, "All in: the poker movie" is a documentary/movie and not a movie movie.. It really is a great watch as it goes thru the history of how online poker began, the ins and outs, greatest winner interviews of all the greats, etc.... A must watch for all online poker players I think.. I found it very entertaining anyways as I don't generally like poker movies either.. Rounders is about the only poker movie I ever enjoyed and this one now...

The online poker pro's do play multiple games at the same time online just like you do Nuns.. Thanks for sharing..

The only thing i know about online poker is that reality TV show (forgot what it's called) where these nerds set up in a mansion and tried to make 1 million playing poker online. it was entertaining i guess, although with the money there making you would think they would have hookers everywhere instead they just sit around eating junk food.

Because reading players based on body language is the MOST overblown aspect of poker. Almost all of reading hands is about the action of the hand. Having a "poker face" is meaningless, understanding the math, and how people tend to play is what matters.

Besides, most live poker games now people don't look at eachother anyway. Everyone is on their phone or their tablet playing chinese poker online at the same time.

    Poker players are the worst.

I used to say the worst thing about being a poker player is you have to spend all your time around poker players.

At major tournaments when we get to breaks, I RUN for the door as fast as I can, otherwise its a cacophony of people whining to eachother and unfortunate wives on the phone about their bad beat stories. "So, I raise UTG with KJ, blah blah blah" Shut the penetrate up its so boring.

I think of online poker like this, correct me if I'm mistaken.. I've never played either. You fold alot when you get poor cards, you bet high and stay on board when you get a high pair and or favorable cards.. Unless, like you said you get a feel for the other players and watch what cards they hold and fold on and play accordingly.. Play the numbers and percentages with a full group of players on a single table, when just down to a couple players on a table then maybe try your bluffing game on occasion..

I've been interested with online poker for a while now, I'm gonna buy one or two of the best rated online poker play books and start reading to get a full understanding on how this online game should be played.. Then I'll log on and give it a try after that...

Last question Nuns? Are you self taught or did you read poker books and or have a mentor that was experienced in the game to show you the ropes?

I've read every poker book ever written, but I don't play much holdem, I'm a mixed game specialist, so there isn't much written about the games I play.

I wouldn't recommend a newbie getting started in online games, Online penny games are tougher than middle-limit live games now. I'm not sure if anyone could jump into online poker and beat it at this point. Beating sports is way easier. Getting a job is easier than both of them.

Here's how to beat poker in a nutshell:

    1) Making a hand is hard, always assume your opponent hasn't.
    2) Bet and keep betting until they tell you they've made a hand.

The waiting for good cards shit is played out and will get you chewed up against any decent players. My favorite opponents are people who think they're good players, who are "tight-aggressive". I call them in position and pour on the aggression later in the hand.

If you're going to be playing NLHE, I'd recommend Harrington on Holdem. If you want to learn how to beat every poker game read Sklansky's Theory of Poker. If you want to beat every game of poker that hasn't been invented yet and have a degree in math read Bill Chen's Mathematics of Poker.

Here's MD's guide to beating online poker:

Wait for a player to open, then min-re-raise them. If they call or 4-bet, immediately go all-in. If they call, you have the nuts, if they fold, you had nothing. Leave the table.

Works for every tilting retard I've ever played against.

I can beat live games, never had the endurance or personality for online, would play well for 2 or 3 day stretches and then get a bad beat and tilt till I was massive loser.

Live games means you have to put up with live action pieces of shit, seriously some of the most petty bottom feader scum you'll find, argue till the death for a $10 blind.

Poker rooms are so disgusting. So many giant fat people with BO, its impossible to take.

Used to be a guy at a local cardroom I played at, he was around 350 pounds and had a prosthetic leg. He would take that big bucket of a leg off and lean it against a pillar while he played. His nub and the prosthesis both smelled like an unwashed vagina stuffed with limburger cheese. It was enough to make you choke.

The best part was, the leg hole in the prosthesis was so big that every once in a while someone would mistake it for a garbage can and throw their trash in it.

Wow, the notion of people so fat is just amazing to me. What don't really have that in Denmark, I have seen maybe 3-5 so fat people here, ever. But apparently people so fat that they basically can't function in everyday life is standard elsewhere (Ok, America..) That's.. C'mon man, lift your shield.

People being fat doesn't really bother me, people being so fat and lazy that they can not move is what bothers me. I say this as a fat person who spends 10 hours a day on his feet running miles around the kitchen. I'm a 230 pound man who can run circles around most people, penetrating genetics.

I'm not talking about the husky gentleman, I'm talking a walking(Or rather rolling in one of those old folk scooters) Cetaceas that just does not even look close to human any more. 300 pounds on a 5'2" frame rolling a long in a cart designed for handicapped people. I was dumbfounded when I saw that when i went to America.

Yeah it is pretty baffling. Very, very disgusting. I am continually astounded by the people I encounter, apparently it is not quite as bad here in Canada but it is pretty damn close to several states.

Skinniest, yes, leanest no. I knew a chef who was the skinny-fastest dude on earth, Was 6'4" and looked scrawny, but his bodyfat % was >30%, no muscle on his body whatsoever. Sample size of 1, I rest my case.

That's whats so funny about Americans, nearly everyone is fat, so the ones who are just normally fat think of themselves as normal because they're not morbidly obese.

The worst part here is doctors never seem to think weight is a big deal. They told my aunt that her back problems wouldn't be improved if she lost weight (250lbs), I'm like, so should she carry a 100lb bag of potatoes everywhere, too? Can't possibly make a difference.

It's the processed convenience food, and I don't mean how people usually mean that. I mean, people eat nothing but that. They might eat a couple of pop-tarts for breakfast, eat cheez-its for lunch, potato chips for dinner, not a lick of protein passes their lips.

Watched a documentary "Fed Up" last week, about all these poor, abused, fat kids. The parents were "trying" to do good and give the kid reduced Fat Ritz crackers and shit, but not once did I see them eat a piece of meat. Constant garbage.
