Im surprised they didnt put Cerrone on this card. They'll probably do like they did on tht card when they put Hougland and Walker on it at last minute. Just find two average dudes who are desperate to get a bigger fight and put them on facebook first

yea they are really stretched out, 151 on September 1st is Jones/Hendo with no real co feature fight. !52 on September 22nd has Penn/Macdonald which might even be the main now. Midway pointin July you'd theink they'd have september cards almost set

Be interesting to see if any Jackson guys talkin about their past battles in the gym... I imagine Cerrone as Condit in this (1min 20 mark).. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=saCLtl5Ir04

Not including Cerrone, I see two very, very easy plays on this card. Just hope the lines are good!

Agree but I think Cerrone is kicking it up a notch. In all but the Diaz fight he has looked very good standing. Very quick very versatile. On the ground he can sub Guillard in an instant.

I think Guillard is always going to look good as a dog though.

Only way Guillard takes it is if Cerrone is tentative and Guillard pulls off a similar performance to the Stephens fight and scrapes a decision. Cant see tht happening tho

Cerrone ITD is a beautiful play. Possibly round 1.

Unless he just decided to beat up Guillard for three rounds like he did Stephens...

I think if he wants an early finish, it's his. Either by KO or submission. Most likely KO, but I think after he knocks him down, he might take his back.

If I'm backing Cerrone in this one, I'd like to see a cerebral game-plan similar to the one he used vs Paul Kelly, mixing in some TDs.

Though Melvin seems like the type that may be able to lure Cerrone into full retard slugfest mode.

    Perhaps.

But everyone and their momma took Cerrone as the big favorite vs. Diaz and he let you all down. I would be slower to pull the trigger.

Diaz is much better fighter than Guillard though.

It also might be that I don't care for Cerrone. But he has good looking skills vs. everyone not named Diaz.

Lets hope the price is decent on Cerrone here because of Guillard's name and flashiness.

THts because Cerrone got caught up in Diaz's "mindgames" and jus brawled with him. Diaz is on another level to Guillard in terms of grappling and ability to take punishment

Based on Melvin's last fight -- his "slugfest days" might be behind him. He certainly "contained himself" and was pretty chill compared to the past.

If anything -- it will be Cerrone who pulls Melvin into the war zone.

hmm maybe the Herman/Shields fight. There are lot of guys on this card with solid cardio though and no LHW or HW's as far as I can tell so maybe they did that on purpose?

I like Bendo obviously. I will be pounding that. Frankie will lose and move to featherweight where he is much better suited imo.

Cerrone should win, but at -300 that is simply too steep imo. I put him more around-220/-250, so I prob won't hit that. I might see some value in Melvin as a big dog, but it would be a small sprinkle. That guy is way too unreliable, even though I have read recently that he is a so called -new man, and he has his focus back.

Anyone like Herman over Shields as a dog? According to my research, both are BJJ,and I only have to assume that Jake's is far superior. Shields is one of the best on the ground in MMA period imo.

Anyone like Buddy Roberts to upset Okami? Don't know too much about Roberts, on paper he looks good, but I think he has run through alot of cans. Thoughts?

are you serious about the ginger? i can never tell with you ever since you posted that aldo should be the dog against koch.

i bit on shields -140, but i almost feel like its a trap. what do you see that im missing?

Aldo +250. <--- nick read that

Shields is 35 and def on his back nine. Herman striking looked on point against Starks. The ground game should go to shields but I can't pay that juice. -140 seems fair but neither have beaten top notch competition
shields beat injured Hendo and lost to kampmann - those are his best wins

The soulless ginger would need to stop the takedowns for three rounds if shields wins it's going to be a Fitch fest

    Still back nine
couldnt tap out Hendo who gives up his back more than Jenna Jameson

Lol. I definitely have to do more research. But I feel like this is a step down in competition for shields. being given a bone, if you will. I may be underestimating the ginger though, based on said gingerness.

I think it's a close fight and probably one to skip, but if you're gonna play anything, the Ging is the way to go. He's been more and more impressive fight after fight. Jake Shields, less and less impressive fight after fight. This is the fight of Herman's life. He's gonna go all out, balls to the wall. When he wins, he's probably gonna cry.

Exactly my thoughts (y) Im not gonna go big on the ginger but medium or biggish. I think its a good matchup for Herman. His striking has looked pretty good his last fights and im wondering if Shields can really take him to the ground those 2 or 3 rounds. I doubt it.
Sexyama put him on his back and the hendo fight which was the one that made Shield wrestling good or mystical is gone for me. I would say Herman should be +100 or +110.

    A step down from akiyama?
Herman does get taken down too much for my liking but I don't have this line at +160 for him
