Tae Kwon Do is a performance art. Not a martial art. Nor one that should be mixed with them unless you're Machida.

So much fail with this post. Wow.

Machida doesn't have a background in Tae Kwon Do... and Cung Le's background is in Sanshou specifically.

I guess Bendo will never be LW champ with his TKD striking base.

Sometimes Ballerinas accidentally knock each other out while prancing around doing their moves but it doesn't mean they are in a real fight.

i liken Cote as much of a walkover opponent for anyone as a Ryan Bader (is) or a Chris Lyttle (was till recently)...anyone beating one of these talented, crafty and "tough as nails" dudes is upper-echelon world class...I don't think Cung Le quite fits that bill...maybe he is, but i wouldn't bet on it...would be more interested in going the other way on this one if at all, perhaps working it into a parlay

This might be the first time in history that a Book actually "corrected" their "error" by moving it MORE in your favor.
You got me, as I stated in my last reply I may have "sensationalised" the thread title to drum up interest in the thread. I was interested in people's POV's on Cote and these have been voiced. IMO there is value on Le over +160.

    Hey Fuktard,

Rampage and Couture are big hot shot actors these days, so does that make them fake?

Le was all American h/s wrestler, un-defeated Sanshou world champion (do you even know any other combat arts apart from MMA)?? 17-0 kickboxing, and a senior member of the prestigious American kickboxing academy.

Is that real enough for you boy?

Le has to KO Cote in one round or he's done. Good luck doing what power punchers like Anderson SIlva and Chris Leben couldn't. Cung could;t even KO Wanderlei who has a weak chin now, how is he gonna KO the iron jawed Cote?

Patrick Cote by mid-to-late (T)KO. I'll be betting on it.
Definitely Le's age effects his poor cardio and Cote's iron chin and good striking makes Cote the favorite to win this by decision or tko.

Sando, i'm glad you hyped the title (and your "case" for Le) a bit...cuz it's instigated a lively debate...and got me more interested in this 40-year-old Vietnamese-American fighter...

damn...guy's got solid credentials, and a hell of an interesting bio...whatever happens in a few days

Spinning back kicks are from Tae Kwon Do. It's a legit technique in MMA.

You ask who has Cote ever beaten... Well who has Le ever beaten that is somewhat relevant?

You say hes dominated every MMA fight, yet hes been stopped by SCOTT SMITH.

Once again, I cannot take you seriously based on those rodiculous statements alone.

He broke Frank Shamrocks arm and subsequently won the fight. As in the guy who was at one time commonly considered the best pound for pound fighter in the world. That's who. And FYI he was absolutely destroying Scott Smith before he got "caught". If you know anything about fighting then you'll know it happens. Have a look what happened in the rematch. Imbecile.

Frank Shamrock was considered one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world in the late 90's. Don't think that beating Frank Shamrock in 2008 is considered noteworthy. There is a reason why the sharp MMA books opened Cung as an moderate underdog, and Sportsbook, who limits MMA cappers to $10 bets because their shitty lines get pounded regulary, opened Cung as a 2 to 1 favorite.

This isn't kick boxing slick and Frank Shamrock is about as past his prime as it gets. Im not saying Cung will lose but saying he is a lock is silly.

I haven't watched much of Cote's fights. I saw his fight with Anderson where he didn't look good in contrast. The earliest fight of his I had footage of is against Kendall Grove, and saw his impressive ko there. After seeing that I figured I wouldn't bet on either fighter, but ended up putting $50 on Le by decision @ 9.2.

I know Le is probably going to gas, but not sure if the odds I got reflect that probability. I doubt Le will get a stoppage, and if he can not gas might outstrike Cote. Cote's striking isn't that bad though.
Last edited by varkolek; 07-06-12 at 01:16 PM. Reason: Might hedge that with Cote to win @ 1.5.

Wow, that's probably why he is the underdog here. Pedagogy always with the inside info. Pedagogy you always come out after the fight to vomit your winning % and to say how good you are. Will you ever post your picks before the fight?

Cote is like the most boring fighter ever all he does is load up on that one punch and eat punches. I predict lee kick boxes his ass up all first round starts to gas and cote starts to over power him in the later rounds but i'll give it a decision victory to cung le. All le has to do stay on the outside kickbox around him and avoid that one punch.
