Even if he doesn't get the KO, I see his stand up advantage being greater than Bader's wrestling advantage. He would still win a decision.

If Tito can find that chin, then this is a good spot for Rampage to stop the KOless streak.

Machida is one of the hardest guys to hit in MMA and wasn't a good fight for Rampage stylistically. He dropped Evans but Suga was able to recover due to his experience and great composure - I doubt tht Bader would recover in a similar situation - he doesn't seem to be the type of fighter who deals very well with great adversity - actually panics a lot. And Jon Jones is Jon Jones. Only one which is questionable for me is Jardine - but then Jardine did have an awkward style and good use of leg kicks which is something that Rampage was and is particularly susceptible to (as we saw against Griffin) due to his flat-footedness and desire to plant his feet to generate power.
Yup. He also rocked Jardine (Rd2 IIRC) and Jardine's instincts to clinch saved him. Bader seems to panic at the first sign of despair. This may do him in the first time Rampage lands a clean punch.

if it wasnt for the brilz KO Rampage could have deported bader back to the regional circuit, where he belongs, almost.

As long as Rampage doesn't have a hangover from the Bones fight, he should take this... for all of the reasons pointed out in this thread.

It's a potential hangover that I'd worry about, but would hope being back in Japan would light a fire under his azzzz.

Where's Page training for this sh*t? He came into the Bones fight rather fit and focused...

At his own gym... Rampage Fitness Academy. Sure he's working with his buddy Kongo...it's benificial that they both have fights on same card I guess. According to Dave Jackson (striking coach) they are in great shape and having a great camp together

yeah, I guess on the flip-side you can argue that by training at his own new gym in Cali he wont be as focused on the fight and not "out of his comfort zone" which one could argue Rampage needs to be in order to be at top of his game. I think the week leading up to the fight and the weigh-ins will give a good indication

    Agree...

Though training with Kongo will allow Page to perfect his groin striking, so Bader via DQ may be a solid play.

Where do you see the line ending up though? Page has already went up a bit. I think he could see -300 by fight night. May still be able to catch him decent the week of though.

Yeah -250 to -300 range. I guess some are waiting for Rampage by TKO/KO prop

Yeah, I was just thinking of that... I've been burned a few times lately by waiting for weigh-ins and having lines move on me. Given Page's public notoriety, I'd expect the public money to come in on him... so may buy-in now, and cost average in with additional bets if the line moves further...

Thats true Vitooch but on the brazil cards, their was clearly some favoritism for the home country guy. Rumble/vitor was getting stood up real quick. The ufc wants the fans to leave the arena happy that their guy won.

Fair enough. But i think the fans would have left mandalay bay much happier knowing diaz, not Condit would be GSP's next opponent.

In short, Señor Mendez summarizes my sentiments on the Page-Bader fight in his analysis here:
    http://www.sportsbookreview.com/ufc/free-pic...c-144-a-23270/

Will keep a keen eye on weigh-ins, possibly add more, or try for a live in-fight play on this one... expecting more steam on Page as the fight approaches unless he comes in looking all Little Debbie at the weigh-ins.

    2.00u Rampage Jackson -245

edit. Annnnnnd ~10 hrs after I book that, the line is now at -210... wtf, line movement be killing me lately... Ballin Blades must've maxed out Bader or somethin.

With Leonard Garcia forced to withdraw from this month's UFC 144 event, Japanese newcomer Issei Tamura will now face Tiequan Zhang.

UFC officials on Saturday announced the change.

It was announced a week or two ago that Nam Phan was replacing Garcia... So Tamura should be replacing Phan... what's going on???

tough time seeing Bader win this as outlined above. I do think the Japan aspect will help Rampage, w/ 2 reasons moreso than scorecards, main one being #1

    1. Motivation
    2. Boos for quicker standups, separation during clinches
    3. Judges

I think Rampage TDD is good enough for Bader. If it looked bad vs Rashad it's b/c he has the speed in his double Bader doesn't and he set them up nicely. Bader brings strength and a wrestling game not as tailored to MMA as it needs to be, which I think Rampage can handle. Bader hasn't beat the quality of opponent in Rampage and dont expect him to start now.

FOR ALL OF YOU EDGAR BACKERS (aka NOT V)

"Training's going great. I'm about to ship out to Japan, next week. Obviously I have Renzo (Gracie) and Ricardo (Almeida) to talk to and bounce ideas off of. We're gonna get there like nine days in advance. I figure that should be enough time. You know, I fought in Abu Dhabi, which is a pretty significant time difference, so, you know, it's gonna be business as usual."

    BUT
"It's tough. You know, a guy like that is really tough to duplicate, as far as training partners go. You get a little mixture of this and that in different guys and you try to prepare the best you can for him. You know, I think it's just his scrambling ability. He scrambles really well and he's a great athlete. He throws good knees and stuff like that. I don't wanna get caught with one of them, for sure."

I like Pettis at -210. Rinse Repeat Stout/Lauzon. Avoid the Round 1 Blitzkrieg and you can beat Jlau

Big Lauzon fan. And I realize on paper, Pettis isn't the best matchup for him. Standing Pettis is more technical. On the ground Pettis "should" be able to stay out of subs. And Pettis "should" have a better gas tank.

But throwing odds like that against Lauzon who ALWAYS surprises, is dumb in my opinion.

My problem with Joe is he trains in MASS at his own gym. A gym that doesn't seem to have many good sparring partners or predominant coaches. I feel he is just way behind when it comes to training camps. But then again, everyone reacts and needs different kinds of things. Perhaps if he was at a gym far away from home it wouldn't be a good thing.

But Pettis is -290 right now. And that is ridiculous. So much value in Lauzon. If Lauzon can come in with some solid cardio he can win this fight all day. The odds are ridiculous.

The odds reflect the style matchup as you correctly pointed out. The odds is not ridiculous, but by far a steal. Lauzon will have to finish pettis within the first round. Thats it. That is hes shot, his only path to victory. Good luck to him.
