Edson Barboza -275 vs Ross Pearson
The bet seems obvious, but the price is TOTALLY wrong here. Pearson's only shot to win this is to take it to the ground. It WON'T happen. This is a HORRIBLE matchup for Pearson. The odds should be -400 to -500 here. Barboza will pick Pearson apart all 3 rounds or will score a TKO. Don't pass this up guys.

Pearson is completely over matched here in the stand up game. Barboza is a superior striker... this is fact....if you haven't watched these 2 guys fight enough times...then you'll realize it at around 2 minutes into the first round. How many fighters do you think have had a fever during a fight? I doubt Siver is the only one to ever have a cold during a fight! How do we know that Barboza won't have a fever during this fight with Pearson? To say tht Pearson doesnt have a chance in this fight is amiss
Dude I've got like 12 units on Barboza at -185, I'm not saying that he wont dominate Pearson but the price isn't off at -275

When a striker is in the beginning stages of their MMA career, they tend to focus less on their standup and more on their ground game. I think this was a clear case of a kickboxer who overtrained for his wrestling. This is just my opinion on that particular fight though. If I remember correctly, Pearson was landing the same right hand over and over in that fight. I think it would be a much different story if they fought again.
you're wrong. pearson will keep this fight standing. i have barboza winning the fight but -275 is the product of hype.
imo, njokuani could have won that fight against him it was a very very close fight. it will be a technical match up and pearson will be competent enough to not get KO'd but lose a decision.
Yeah, he will have to. I bet he will shoot a couple times though after getting tagged on his feat though. He's going to get picked apart.
That was Siver's 8th fight in the UFC and 20th of his MMA career, I'd hardly call that "beginning stages of his career"!!!
Barboza is still green in the UFC.... he looks like he's ready for the top-level guys, but I can't be sure just yet after the Njokuani fight. This fight will tell us a lot and I think Pearson surprises us with his performance here.
Ok Ok, I stand corrected. But anyone who knows Siver knows that was a straight up BAD BAD fight for him. I broke the fight down immediately after it happened round by round, and if I remember correctly, he was getting rocked over and over and over again by an overhand right or something...help me out here I'm too lazy to check it out.
you're underestimating ross pearson here. it's not like he's an aging veteran, he is young and still improving which brings another element to consider.
still, barboza is a beast. and i remembered hearing that he was injured against njokuani and i see barboza coming out stronger than his last showing barring he is injury free.
imo, @ -275 is likely but theres not enough value for me to bet on barboza. but good luck
Injuries and sicknesses are important things to pay attention to. Barboza was injured against njoukani and Siver was sick against Pearson. These are things that the average people don't know which gives us an advantage. Barboza is going to destroy Pearson. I agree with Shogun. He should be a much higher favorite. They matched him with pearson for a reason in Brazil. He should get the knockout.
Since I got a bit too excited on Pearson at +165 on the opening line, I'm going to have to just let the play ride. Really considered buying back on him, but I'd just get myself in a hell of a jam. It sucks too because I have 10u on Pearson to win 16.5u. This is a very large play for me and if I had wait for +240 I'd feel ok with it... but the more I keep hearing people say Barboza is going to destroy Ross, I get to thinking I jumped the gun here and will regret it.

I would buy back also.. Barboza was badly injured for the njoukani fight. Couldn't train for like 30 days or throw right kicks, he reinjured it on the first kick of the fight. He's one the brightest young stars in the ufc. Its his time to shine. They gave him a british fighter with no wrestling background, (most of whom really haven't fared well in the ufc except for Bisping who's been well built up.) It'll be hard for a judge to give a decision to Pearson in Brazil.
Does anyone know which judges the ufc is bringing down there? When that info gets released?

Barboza by dec is at +266. Anyone jumping on that? As I said I'm staying away now... but if I were to start over and place one bet on this fight that would probably be the route I take.

Up to -315. I can imagine how happy Barboza backers are now if they got on him early when the price was even sweeter.
I've got Barboza in a parlay, and may add other plays... Most are acknowledging that Pearson (if smart) will try to get Barboza to the ground, but I recall (from older Barboza footage) Barboza having pretty solid sprawl and TDD...

The fight didn't really go like I thought it would, but you have to give Pearson a lot of credit here. He had a very solid/high pressure game plan and he could have easily won the decision.

Got barboza at -285, meh made a little bit. His kicks are lightning fast.
