Why? If Attonito can avoid a flash sub at the beginning, he'll probably be able to keep the fight standing and beat Roberts up on the feet. We could also see him take down a gassed Roberts and knuckle-dust him a bit from guard, as he did to Rafael Natal in the third round of their fight.Originally Posted by Beelzebubzy

The reason I am on Roberts is the jj level between the two is huge. Maybe Im overrating his subs against Guymon and Soto.
I wouldnt say huge - Attonito is a purple-belt himself and also has Div 1 wrestling experience. He was also able to go three rounds with two black-belts in Dave Branch and Natal and avoid being submitted. Roberts may well be more "explosive" but Attonito has better striking.

I wouldn't sweat the weight cut for Nate as much. Johnson cuts from over 220 lbs to make WW. He's more likely to suffer from the effects of the cut. Nate should take this all day.
Even then, I think Roberts' "explosiveness" advantage only lasts for about three minutes!

I think it'll be closely contested fight. Howard is extremely overrated by most people.
Yea I dont think so either. Brown's got decent standup and is tough as they come. He should be able to hang with Howard.
I actually think Brown is extremely overrated by most people. He has tons of heart, no question, but I don't think he has near the skill of most other fighters in the division.
Yeah, I agree that Brown is overrated too. Still, John Howard is a guy who probably deserves to be 1-5 in the UFC. Brown might no longer cut the mustard in the UFC, but the same can be said for Doomsday.
The man has lost three straight fights in the UFC and is currently sporting a 4-4 UFC and an overall record of 11-10. Matt Brown is not overrated, I'd say he's just plain old rated.
Underneath that record is a fighter who does have skills, I've watched enough of the guy to see that. But it's clear he hasn't been the same fighter the last couple of outings. Is that due to injury or his camp? Maybe both. But there are a couple of things that I noticed that lean towards training and camp preparation.
Being that this is a replacement fight it'll be interesting to see what, if any, strategy will be employed other than go out and put on a show by both of these guys.

Normally with Matt Brown I'd say yes, but this fight might be a little different for the simple fact the loser of this fight probably gets cut from the UFC. Brown already has lost three in a row and Howard is coming off two losses himself, they have to see the writing on the wall. Fighters in this situation usually respond by trying to fight the perfect fight, but that only makes them hesitant and more mistake prone than anything else.
I heard Brown left Hume and Seattle and is back in Vegas for his MMA training. I really hope that the move back is a positive step because his time in Seattle really hurt him.

word, this match up stuck out to me as well. I like roberts at -200 or lower.

I think Attonito is a decent enough wrestler to sprawl and brawl on him, and get a few well-chosen takedowns of his own once Roberts gasses out. Unless Ninja can get an early submission, I really don't like his chances. He's going to be out-classed on the feet, and Attonito showed in the Branch fight that he can survive on the ground against legit black belts. I wouldn't even bet on Roberts as the dog.

I won't be arbing. Got 2u on Morecraft at +205. I think this is about a 60/40 fight in favor of Meathead and that's his gastank that gives him the advantage. If Morecraft fight smart and doesn't blow his load early, he's got a good shot.
Well the lines are calming down a bit now. Morecraft dropped like a stone. Got him straight up @ +170 and in a parlay 1 minute later @ +150 with Story (+120), Howard, Kongo.
Still waiting on Bodog to get their lines up. I hope Morecraft opens +205, and Story opens +140 like they did on 5D.

Ouch. Yeah I caught that too. I think the line should be way closer to EV than it is. Morecraft is a monster. Too bad I already put everything I wanted on him @ +170
Did anyone here get Story at +140? Is there any type of service that will notify me when these lines go up? It sucks, I could have had him at -110, and then as i was putting the bet in, it changed to -130.
